This is probably going to be crosbys best full season.

The best players the second half of the season have been Kane, Marchand, Backstrom and Burns.

And while I have no idea who the best player in the NHL is, there are a lot of players that are very close, I am pretty sure McDavid is the very definition of "MVP" this season.
When would you have said a particular player was the best player?

Heh. Not sure I agree. Had he kept up his early season insane pace, most definitely.

I don't know if this beats 06-07 or 09-10.

Does anyone know if Sid has hit 20 points in a 10 game stretch before?

One could say 25 goals and and now 56 assists means contribution in addition to making those around you better. Not to say Crosby doesn't....but this entire argument is dumb as they are both in a class all their own.

Crosby will be the #1 hockey player in the world until he retires, as simple as that.

Not true at all. McDavid could suprass him much sooner, even before Crosby declines.

Given that his 1018 points came in something like 560 of his 770 games, probably several times.

He could but without the cups / long playoff runs he'll need to start distancing himself from the field in scoring races.

Got a chance to watch the Pittsburgh-Edmonton game and, honestly, McDavid just looked faster, more skilled, and more of a threat to score.

Don't be so sure Connor hasn't already passed him by.

Looking like more of a threat to score and actually scoring are two different things.

He was better in those seasons IMO. Same with 13-14.

Could it have something to do with Sid having played 3x the number of games in the past year? Just spitballin'.

McD will pass Sid at some point here, but not before Sid "declines"... Because to say otherwise, would be to suggest that McD has a higher a ceiling. We all know he doesn't. Sid's more complete.

Annoys the hell out of me people are claiming McDavid as the best player in the league. Will he be one day? Kids got a really good shot at that happening, one day! That day is not here!

Can I be convince otherwise? Playoffs are right around the corner. If McDavid can dominate in the playoffs and be a force it would go along ways to show what he can truly do. Playoffs are a different game than the regular season.

Great players are great playoff performers. Considering McDavid has zero playoff games it is absurd to think he is the best player in the game. End of argument right there.

Want to argue about the Hart Trophy? That is an argument that has merit. Yet there are many really solid choices for the Hart. McDavid, Crosby, Marchand, and Burns.

I'm hoping we get some of your brilliant predictions for the Pens come playoff time again like last year. I remember how dead wrong you were in every series, almost like a good luck charm.

He missed the first six games of the season.

But he does look as good as ever.

Strangely enough, Sid went on a 24 points in 13 games start to the season his first year under Mike Johnston (the year he ended up with his career low 84 points, ironically enough). Not quite 20 in 10, but close.

The problem for Sid is the PP just isn't getting enough chances to pad his overall totals. He'll largely have to rely on even strength scoring, so scoring like 15 or 16 ES points will be a tall order (assuming even a modest 4 or 5 PP points), if not impossible.
