I think the reason a lot of people say Jacobs won is because he is the first guy to do so well against GGG. Reminded me of Gus-Jones fight.

It was kind of an unfair fight for Golovkin. Jacobs was being kind of shady for not showing up to the weigh-ins; he had reach advantage, height advantage and weight advantage on fight night.

I have little interest in that fight between two 40 year olds who might not be able to pass the drug tests but the card will probably be solid overall since it's at MSG and they're going back on PPV for it. I think they basically have to throw everything they have on there in order to have any chance at succeeding on PPV. That means Fedor, Davis/Bader for the LHW title, Chandler, Larkin, etc. Looking forward to seeing what they put together.

You're underestimating bellators roster.

This isn't 2009.

You don't think they need to put all the big name fighters they have on there to be successful on PPV? Rampage, King Mo, Rory, and Daley are probably all out because of timing so that leaves the ones I listed above, Lima, and Henderson.

Fedor/Mitrione has been confirmed for the co-main and Davis and Bader are asking to fight on there as well. So that would be three of the fighters I suggested. I don't know if they want to give Larkin a title shot right away but him and Lima could be a fun fight.

I think they do with Mac/Daley the month prior.

Wand/Sonnen (need to have a replacement on stand-by)
Fedor/Mitrione
Davis/Bader - LHW championship
Larkin/Lima - WW championship
Gallagher perhaps.

He only skipped the IBF same-day weigh in, and I don't believe suffered a financial penalty for it, since the title became uncontested. He made weight for the WBA and WBC the day before. That's the problem with different sanctioning bodies.

The issue is that he made it seem like he was gonna compete for the belt which forced GGG to make 170 on fight night; however, Jacobs clearly had no intention at making weight since he didn't even show up, so he just ensured Golovkin weighed less than him (supposedly by 10 pounds).

I do like IBF weigh-in system.

I like it too, but if I'm a challenger in a unification bout and I can have a huge advantage of weighing heavier, and being re-hydrated longer than my opponent, and the only repercussion is losing out on 1 of possibly 4 titles, I'd be all over it, especially if I'm an underdog going in. It's greasy AF, but nothing stopping anyone from doing it. WBC and WBA need to join the IBF on this.

Well the issue is that belts or titles don't meaning anything in the UFC or boxing these days. It's all about PPV points and fighting/beating the biggest names.

Sure, but the UFC has themselves to blame for that because of the proliferation of so many "interim" belts just to try to make a marginal PPV sellable. Since the organization itself has devalued the belts, why should the fighters care? At this point, it's about money and the fighters know if they sell PPV's, they'll make money regardless of whether they have a belt.

Getting back to the weight cutting thing, the biggest problem though a same-day weigh in is you're going to be fighting, in all likelihood, very dehydrated. Doing a same day weigh-in isn't going to necessarily eliminate insane cuts, only make these guys more susceptible to head trauma and brain damage.

I can see it in boxing, as the weight cuts aren't nearly as bad. I wouldn't want to see it in MMA though.

BJ Penn vs Dennis Siver in June. Penn should have retired after the Rodriguez fight. This isn't going to be any better. (Not that Siver is a killer by any stretch, Penn just looked that horrible vs Rodriguez and his prep for that fight was rumoured to be a joke.)

Well they would learn the hard way then. One or two concussions and they'll drop to a lower weight class.

Still won't fix extreme cutting in MMA though.

Bellator NYC card shaping up:

Wand/Sonen
Fedor/Mitrione
Lima/Larkin - Welterweight Championship
Chandler/Primus - Lightweight Championship

One more fight to be added in all probability. Don't expect much of a prelim card, will likely be guys from Ring of Combat or another local promotion, which is what Bellator does.

Actually, they are planning a full "good" card on Spike before the PPV. Will be a few fights added.

That's actually a really really decent card. I'd put that card up against many cards the UFC has put up as PPV's the past couple years. I'm excited for it.

It's excellent to see what Bellator is putting together. Competition in the industry has proven to be great for fans in the past.

Bellator just signed Michael McDonald too:

For me it's about access. I like the competition being Bellator as we can all watch Spike. Watching Dream, OneFC or Rizin in the middle of the night is annoying.

Nice. Lima/Larkin is the one I wanted on this card. Easily my favourite fight out of those four.

Hopefully the Fedor fight actually happens and he picks up a win.
