To be a kid in the late 70s and a huge hockey fan in Ottawa with no team, Wayne Gretzky was my obsession. What a star! I would watch on a black/white TV , and I could tell even on a little 12 or 14" screen who he was by the way the numbers looked when he skated, and his gait. Just incredible to think of what he did in that era of greats.
I liked the Leafs because they were exciting, and lousy. But fun to watch! Montreal was on as well but for a kid, hated 2-1 games, and 3-2 games. Imagine those game back then when a lot of games were 7-4, 8-5, etc...! Vaive, Daoust, Salming, Derlago, John Anderson, etc...they were a fun group.
Teen years, loved Pavel Bure. Lindros, such a monster with an unprecedented package of skill, size and speed.
Ottawa years, the one and only Alfredsson. Just a class act for all those years.
Erik Kralsson and Mark Stone are turning onto my All-Time list too moving forward!
