OLD HABS archives (Radio-Canada)

Today, Radio-Canada put online its new archives webpage. I thought some people would be interested in a lot of stuff they're showing (french content):

Hockey archives in general :
http://archives.radio-canada.ca/sports/hockey/

Archives on Maurice Richard
http://archives.radio-canada.ca/doss...49&IDCatPa=153

Habs/Nordiques rivalry (FULL GAMES!!)
http://archives.radio-canada.ca/doss...49&IDCatPa=153
*Notes : Jacques Demers coaching the Nordiques is weiiiiiiiiird. Savard had an emo haircut in 1979. There's no sounds on Alain Côté's "goal" cause of rights problems.

NHL and money
http://archives.radio-canada.ca/doss...49&IDCatPa=153

All on Wayne Gretzky
http://archives.radio-canada.ca/doss...49&IDCatPa=153

Some videos are GOLD!

Enjoy

Isn't it ironic in the first 3 mins we see Perron, Pagé and Bergeron?

Wow, full Vendredi Saint game. I'm having a frustrating time streaming this thus far though and the rendering is all messed up. If you have success streaming or downloading this on a mac, could let me know what software and plug-ins you're using?

Nice to see the Asian usher behind the bench of Montreal in the pre-Vendredi Saint game. Also nice to hear Claude Mouton's voice in the other videos. I miss the old generation!

Watching the pre-game shows reminds me of how pure the experience of watching a hockey game live at the Forum used to be. No billboards every free square inch, no moronic animation to fill every second of every game breaks, shilling for dumb noise from the crowd. This was obviously play-offs hockey, but the crowd in these videos is so spontaneous and vibrant. While today's Bell Center crowds can be loud and demonstrative, I feel their behaviour is a little too "forced" and somewhat programmed.

I went to the Bell Center recently after a long hiatus from live NHL hockey and while I obviously did enjoy myself, I really don't think the live experience is worth the $$$ anymore (except perhaps for the Feb 19 comeback, but I'm sure it was just as nice to watch on a loud TV). It's easier to focus on the game watching it on TV then being there.

Now you kids get off my lawn!
