I'd be shocked if we don't have a new scoreboard for opening day next year (for the centennial), if not earlier. The Bell Centre is one of the most-used entertainment facilities in the world and I don't think there's any chance that Gillett will allow it to become obsolete. If Jacobs in Boston is willing to splurge I'm sure our owner will have no problem.
If not, I'll write him a letter. I'm pretty sure the shot clock was added to the jumbotron late last season in response to a letter I wrote.
Montreal should get a new jumbotron, even though they have a great hockey environment, it brings in corporate dollars with advertising plus it makes the arena feel more updated. Bell Centre is turing 13 years old and for the 100th Anniversary it would be great. I think something something like HP Pavilion (Sharks), Sommet Center (Nashville) or TD BankNorth Garden (Boston Bruins).
Ottawa desperately needs one too. All Canadian stadiums should try to be different from each other in my opinion.
Vancouver is nice too but already done in Canada. Sorry I love scoreboards.
Last november I was at a conference here at Collège Édouard Montpetit. The subject was the marketing of the Montreal Canadiens and, of course, Ray Lallonde, director of marketing for the Habs, was giving the speech.
He talked about the jumbotron of the Caps and said the Habs are going to have one for next season.
