When Toroton was playing Ottawa while Montreal was playing Boston I'm pretty sure both were on CBC.

sigh. I'm well aware of what you meant, but conceding that I might be wrong.

I, for one, will be truly angry if there are any blackouts for playoff games. Hopefully that won't be the case.

They will split the network. Worst case you can watch the game online if you don't get RDS as CBC has all games online.

Who really cares?!!
RDS has given me the opportunity and the privilidge of watching every Habs' game this year. I for one will be watching their playoff broadcasts...and I only speak English. Although Pierre and Yvon makes alot more sense to me than Bob Cole does at times!
Besides, for some reason the games seem more exciting on RDS.

I guess we don't have to discuss this any further since you've answered the main question (thanks), but...maybe this is all due to a no-show of the LEAFS...?? (well, it's not official, but...). Meaning...our HABS will be televised on CBC (every playoffs game) and this is due to the no-show of the LEAFS, right? Since they (CBC) would probably give priority to the LEAFS and then to the Sens...or at least this is what I thought happened in the past...

thanks again

p.s.: so, this is good news...everyone with a TV in Montreal area will be able to watch the HABS, great stuff (I'll be switching from RDS to CBC, and vice versa!!).
you're in Montreal...so NO. Read myprevious post...

That is correct. It is part of the CBC's contract to the NHL that every canadian team in the playoffs has their games televised on HNIC.

This current contract expires at the end of this year's playoffs. Next season, the rules will be different as TSN will be able to show some canadian content if available.

The CBC will have first choice to choose two playoff series, TSN gets to choose the 3rd series, the CBC gets picks the 4th, TSN gets to pick the 5th and 6th series, CBC 7th, and TSN gets the 8th.

I guess to know for sure (a 100% sure) I'd have to spend lots of time sending CBC some emails!! (I'll forget about all of this since I have RDS/TSN anyways!!), I just wanted to know about CBC anyways... thanks for info.

So, CBC's first choice will broadcast 2 out of Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary, Montreal.
So, Montrealers might not be able to watch 1st round on CBC...
thats for NEXT year.

Brown is terrible and it's nothing more than an Ottawa homer. Lee's not bad and would be much better then Cole or Brown.
