Islanders play by play announcer hired last fall to replace Howie Rose as was accepted immediately by NYI fans.

Just wanted to mention that the feeds Rogers picked up for the Pittsburgh/Columbus game and the St. Louis/Minnesota game were FOX regional broadcasts (CLB and STL); so just confirming no NBC broadcasts. Rogers is so petty.

This is so strange with the national audio over the Caps video feed.

Nice added value for Papa John's.

The San Jose and Chicago series will be the same. Better than nbc just airing the local feed which is what they have done the last few years for the games their regional networks also air.

How is it petty to try and avoid having your competition's announcers show up on your channel? If you read this article you'll see there isn't much of a difference anyway.

I can tell you that NESN told NBC they wanted no part of the share agreement and apparently ROOT Sports in Pittsburgh did the same.

In Canada there is major bad blood between Rogers and TSN and Rogers would rather take the Fox Tennessee than put Pierre McGuire on their air because he continues to have ties to TSN.

I am surprised that MSG network is allowing NBC coverage in the New York market for Rangers games.

The most annoying part of using the local broadcasts instead of the NBC feed (aside from having to hear massive homer announcers) is that I noticed the RSNs muffle the crowd noise more than usual.

Noticed it especially in the CBJ-PIT game on Wednesday - you could barely hear anything at ice level. Not sure if that was also the case on the national broadcast (I guess I'll never know ) but annoying in any case.

Canada got the Fox TN announcer team of Stu and Willy? I feel bad for them.

What other league would put the defending champion with the best player in the game on a network almost no one gets?

I get that the first round doesn't get great ratings but CNBC is airing 4-7 year old reruns of Undercover Boss. A playoff game with the defending Cup champs and the best player in the world is going to beat the ratings that Undercover Boss is going to get.

I take it that Pierre McGuire is doing the game a day thing again?

For the Pittsburgh and Columbus game on right now, Sportsnet is simulcasting it with the Blue Jackets Fox Sports Ohio feed.

Well for this game there was no nationally produced telecast as the game aired on NHL network in the US and they took the Pittsburgh telecast

This will never happen, but NBC and Rogers should team up and make 1 playoff production, at least for the 1st round or 2.

Make it like the CBS/Turner teamed up coverage of the NCAA Tournament - 1 set of graphics, announcing teams pulled from both companies - just give all of North America the same thing.

Agreed. And you know, they had the perfect series for it this first round with the Oilers-Sharks. Randy Hahn (NBC) working with Drew Remenda (Rogers) again.

Thankfully don't get to hear Homer Eddie again for the Preds/Hawks series, it's beyond brutal when he does those games.

Schedule grids usually don't show what a replacement show will be when blacked out. CNBC can only show the game in the US.
