Are there any update about Jake Evans?

Top 10 Prospects

Whenever we talk about prospects we always get a lot of doom and gloom. Outside of the AHL, who do you rate as the top 10 prospects? I like what the Habs have done in recent years. We are still missing offensive forwards (just Bitten and Evans) but we are deep on the back end and in nets.

1. Mikhail Sergachev D - He's got all of the tools.
2. Michael McNiven G - How did this guy not make the WJC team?
3. Victor Mete D - Impressive offensive dman
4. Will Bitten C - Could be a sleeper
5. Jake Evans C - RW Depth scorer, more of a passer
6. Hayden Hawkey G - Lead Providence to the Final Four
7. Matt Bradley C - A two-way center, will he get signed
8. Lukas Vejdemo C- Hasn't lived up to expectations
9. Casey Staum - D A good 1st year in the USHL
10 Michael Pezzetta C Mean and scrappy, we never have enough of these guys
10. Nicholas Koberstein D - Just like Pezzetta, he throws down

I would have Juulsen at no. 2.

As usual we're stronger on D and in net. But Bergevin told Timmins to get him a dman Juulsen's draft year. And, Sergachev was the right pick this past year, regardless of position.

It's up to management to turn our surplus on d and in goal into forwards. That's something Gainey and Gauthier failed to do (McDonagh for Gomez, Halak for Eller, Streit for nothing).

Bourque & Addison are definitely ahead of your last 4 guys. Pezzetta should be our last rated prospect outside the AHL. I'd even have Arvid Henrikson ahead of him.

Would be nice to have Sergachev/Addison for Windsor. McNiven for Owen Sound. Bourque for Saint John all at the Memorial Cup.

Yep. Loved what I saw from Bourque lately. The guy got bigger this year.

Except last night when he took a delay of game penalty that resulted in the winning goal in double overtime. Bourque looked like beaten puppy going to the box.

I am a fan of his. I've watched him a few times and really liked what I saw. You can say he's clutch as well. In the 1st Round against Rimouski, he scored the GWG with only a few minutes left in the game, allowing them to sweep the Océanic. In the 2nd Round against Val-d'Or, he had a goal and 3 assists in Game 4 to help Saint John sweep the Foreurs 7-1.

I was very happy when he was signed to an ELC. Next year, it's either Montreal or Laval for him. I am happy with the way the defensive prospect pool is shaping up with Bourque, Mete, Juulsen, and Sergachev.

It happens to the best of them. It's not a tendency of his to get costly penalties and make a bunch of mistakes that lead to goals against so he's solid. He's not like Pezzetta always making real dumb undisciplined penalties that lead to suspensions and the like.

Awesome. But yeah, it's not really worth it. This guy will be let go in 2021.

I ask myself the same question. Some don't seem to think he's worth it and hasn't shown enough to warrant an ELC. However, I looked at his WHL stats and compared them to Tampa's Tyler Johnson when he was in the WHL and there isn't much of a different. I'm aware stats at Junior don't automatically mean stats in the pros will be identical. But he's a center and is 6' and not far from 200 lbs. Habs need to have players in that position in the system. Worst case scenarios hes a career AHLer or after his ELC is up, you don't extend him or you use him in a trade, however minor.

I wasn't in love in the dev. camp. Thought Addision looked better...but what is a dev. camp anyway. He is showing some great things and would be a welcome addition to our pool. I would not sign McMillan. Same with Crisp up front.
