I get annoyed watching pierre and Yvon at times, just like anyone else, but they're my comfort zone now. I'm not as comfortable watching on CBC. I've become a traitor to my roots.

Hehe - See for me, I usually have people over and I am one of the few of my friends who speaks French. Plus, most don't like hockey as much as I do, so I go with English when I can just out of common courtesy.

Alone though, 80s style overlays aside, I tend to go RDS.

A big part of that is probably habit (since CBC doesn't have all the games) but I think it also has to do with what RDS has done right and what CBC has done wrong.

Love 'em or hate 'em, Pierre & Yvon are at least emotional and excited, makes the game more fun to watch.
What RDS does right is show every Habs game.

I can't speak a lick of french. I watch only RDS for the Habs games. For commentary I rely on pre-game and post-game analysis from the other TV networks, but most especially from internet sources, and the HF Boards GDT threads for live interaction.

CBC, TSN, and Sportsnet simply fail. They are at best teases in Habs games coverage.

RDS is Habs fan heaven, there is no comparison to all of the other networks combined.

True - but I will always watch Miller and McGuire over the RDS clowns.

Cuthbert was fired by CBC during the lockout. He's worked for TSN ever since.

Rds is the way to go for me now. I don't think I'll watch another Hab game on CBC unless I don't have a choice. As much as Pednault annoys me, I think Houde is currently the best play-by-play guy out there

Since you're from Laval, I'll assume you understand French, both spoken and written.

For the anglos, we can watch it on RDS, but if you like to hear commentary and interesting facts and such that they talk about, you can't really watch it, because, well, face it, basically none of us understand /French. Their polls, i can understand, cause I understand some written French on my way to learning it, but spoken, I'd have to listen to it about 10 times to pick out some words. haha

So, all in all, we, Anglos, are either stuck with CBC, or commentary where we don't understand.

In my opinion CBC has been horrible for the last 4 years. I wish TSN and CTV? had bought there contract out instead of them renewing it for another several years. I can hardly understand french and I enjoy watching the games on RDS without understanding the commentators.

They should name CBC the TBC (Toronto broadcast corporation). I don't care why they show leaf games. Just show the Toronto games from now and get it over with. Get Ontario tax payers to pay for the bill and leave the rest of Canada out of it.
TSN or RDS in my book.

I think good broadcastors are hard to find, CBC is horrible and the only reason people like them is they have been there for ever. Who cares!! CBC has not been willing to change the way they operate and everyone else has in the business. Mark my words if they keep it up TSN and CTV will get the rights. Fans will be way to fed up by then.

RDS was in HD for the Saturday Habs game (as usual), and CBC-Montreal was not, only WS. Pretty easy choice.

After the Habs game, CBC-Montreal showed a bit of the Leafs game, at first in WS and then all of sudden they switched to HD... Maybe they had some troubles with the feed.

If you like the video feed of RDS, but want an english description, try listening to the radio description of the match while watching RDS with the sound muted.

Worked for me during Radio-Canada's lockout.
