In my opinion DD has been useless for the large majority of the time we have had him. And to the poster last night who accused me of only looking at box cars, I'm not.

I felt Lander could and still could do DDs job effectively.

That being said I will give credit where it's due. DD was huge last night and even though I am not impressed with his play it doesn't mean I don't want the guy to succeed. Hopefully he continues to be this good, because he has been straight up invisible this series

There's a reason he's in the lineup it's because he's a more proven scoring threat at this level.

Honestly yes, and it was 100% the right call, because despite his struggles he's a better NHL center and he's veteran who still knows how to get it done in spots.

Playoff hockey at it's best right there! It's been too long, we missed you!

Double bonus on that game; a learning experience and a very important victory! Now let's go finish them off in SJ on Saturday.

Whoever called an OT win the the GDT...

Basically. There's no chance Lander sets up the tier and scores the winner.

DD drew that late penalty too to gain momentum. Just a huge 3rd and OT.

This gif will be handy if the oilers keep this up.

Even my wife, who rarely glances at the TV screen during a hockey game, is getting into this series. She couldn't believe the dominance in OT, and said she didn't think the Sharks played in the Oilers end for more than 30 seconds. She wasn't far off in her assessment. That was a beautiful period of playoff OT hockey.

Only 4.5h of sleep (living in the Central time zone is bad enough, can't imagine being in the Eastern) has me dragging today. Still can't figure out if it was DeBoer going into prevent mode too soon or fatigue that made the Sharks look tentative and slow all OT. Either way, I'll take the win.

This was a text to my buddy who was trying to say game 5 would be a blow out again.

No I think tonight will be close. Probably overtime. And whoever wins this will win the series I think.

Go Oilers!

I love that with empty nest syndrome setting in for Gretzky, he's motivated to be a part of the Oilers organization and, in particular, be a mentor for McDavid.

Nobody lining up to take a faceoff against Drai wanted to catch a cold.

Went to bed at 2:30 EST and had to wake up at 4 for the baby.

The first two Shark goals were just purely on our own blunders. Not sure what the **** happened on that second one especially. Someone who had no business changing changed, be aware of what's happening on the ice please.

If we can learn to cut out the stupid in our game, we will have a good chance to continue to make some noise, but those types of mistakes are ones that will sink you in round 2 if you make it that far.
Lucic let the pass get by was it for goal #2? he knew and he was on the rest of the game.

Sens fan popping in to say congrats you guys, I'm pulling for you!

It was great seeing your arena going absolutely nuts (and what a sea of orange!) after all the years of struggle you've had to endure. That OT was thrilling.

Best of luck!

ITT:

- DD plays a career game in the playoffs, assists the tying goal, draws a penalty, scores the OT winner.

- People still bringing up Lander as if he somehow has a chance to do the above in anything other than an AHL game, and saying that he should replace DD.

What the hell, people? Lander is not an NHL player. DD is. That's all there is to the conversation. Even Lander himself has accepted it by saying he's going to play in Europe next year. He failed, move on.

Anyways...

Great ****ing game. They came out super hard, got a bit overwhelmed by the Sharks' response and Jones' goaltending. But finding the drive to bring it to them again int he third and then absolutely CRUSHING them in OT was so amazing to watch!!

How many posts did we hit? This game could have been a lot less tense, haha.

Loving Nuge's emergence as one of the best players in this series, despite not scoring. Was watching with a buddy last night, and after Nuge took his first shot of the game that went wide, my buddy said "who the **** let Nuge shoot?" - it was just perfect timing and quite funny. But in reality, Nuge has been a force in this series. Ebs is trying to make a difference, and Lucic came alive last night as well.

Klefbom is amazing. I'm so glad we didn't decide to do one of those trades that would have gutted our team (Drai, Klef, 1st, + for Subban, eg.).

Loving it, and I now have a recipe for success - wearing my Smytty jersey with some signatures on it (Pisani & Gilbert are the highlights of said signatures) and watching the game with my best friend. We are 3-0 with that combination so far!!

My habit: watch the 1st period, go to bed. Watch remainder of the game the next day, but only if they win.

it's very rewarding viewing. skip commercials, skip Kypreos, skip defeats.
