Well, we've learned that winning streaks matter not.

Don't care about the Habs, but that was a lame way to lose.

Have a soft spot for the Hawks, understandably. But we may be witnessing some torch-passing here....

We may be witnessing the end of the Hawks "dynasty" and it's going to go out with a whimper.

They paid him for past performance and how can you argue three cups, but man.. 12.8 million or so Toews took home this and the next two years?

That's a lot of dough. Could see a guy lose some motivation.

Although I've read that he might have had a lingering injury all year from the World Cup..

Blackhawks looked out of gas, not sure how else to describe it, they were just tired.

They have such a strong team right now, and even last year with Weber they were still excellent. It just depends on which team shows up as they're still a little inconsistent. When they're on though, I think they probably already were the best team in the West. If they're able to bring their A game all playoffs they're going to be tough to beat.

They definitely are the team to beat in the west with the statement series they had against the Blackhawks.

I would hate to play the Preds right now with the way their playing. They just dismantled the Hawks.

I really like their depth and it was fully on display.

Playoffs, though. Playoffs change everything.

But you're right - their defensive depth is elite, but that offence runs 4 lines deep. Victor Arvidsson, where did he come from for this season!?

Like Maroon, just looking to chance to break out.

I was thinking, unlike Columbus, Nashville has an Elite player in Subban and a near elite player in Johansen(sp) which gives them top end anchors for their depth.

I'm not getting ahead of myself. Still a lot of work to do to get to Round 2.

But man, I don't like the Oilers chances against other teams in the West.

Ducks? I wouldn't expect to win.
Predators? Playing really good, wouldn't expect to win.
Wild? We never beat them, so that's a foregone conclusion.
Blues? Playing well, but that might be the one team we could beat.

Nice way to sum it up. I don't think it's a "might" with the Blues though, if anything they "might" beat the Oilers, because the Oilers dominated them all season. I really like their chances against the Blues, but frankly they have a decent chance against all remaining teams, just have to take care of their own business.

I'm actually fine with Ducks and Blues. We more than held our own against them and Anaheim had it easy against Calgary...because Calgary...

The Preds and Wild do scare me - especially the Preds. Both of those teams have been Oiler kryptonite for a long time.

If we were to get past the Sharks (not getting ahead of myself either but I like our chances) , the only teams in that group that frighten me is the Wild (who I think the Blues take out) and the Predators. Anaheim will be tough but we can handle them physically , Calgary gave them fits and we a a way better team than them.

If it is the Blues in the final four....we got that.

The Ducks didn't look amazing against the Flames and benefited from some terrible goaltending.

That said, their top 4 defensemen were either out or playing hurt. The sweep will let them heal up and they'll be better in the next round.

I hope they are healthy , I am confident in our group , we can beat the Ducks.
We are not pushovers like Calgary.

Toews provides leadership, is defensively great, and has been near a point per game in the playoffs over the past few seasons. I have no idea what more people can expect out of a player. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Every team in the league would love to have him. The Blackhawks had zero option but to pay him what he makes right now.

He makes $10M a year and he's one of the "100 Greatest" players of all time. Leadership is nebulous, Hendricks seems to provide great leadership just being part of gameday and the warm up, and he's pretty good defensively, so he's what then a $4M forward?

Again Toews is good, but people treat him like he's some kind high end elite player, he's paid like it, but that's more legend then reality.

Difference of opinion I suppose. I think he brings absolutely everything to the table as a hockey player and would love him on my team.

I'm surprised McDavid can be mugged so thoroughly. You have to give those worthless pukes credit.

I assume slashes, holds, and little crap like pulling sticks and gloves to agitate and interfere.

He seems rattled.

Still can go ppg but Kesler will be infuriating at this rate and if they make it that far.
