Why can't goalies wear the "C" or "A"

They can have an A on, but not a C. A captain is the one responsible for talking to the referees about a call or something that is going on in a game, and a goalie cannot do that because if he leaves his zone, he gets a penalty.

You might try reading through the thread and checking the actual rules that have been posted rather than posting more incorrect information.

Quite the contrary. Goalies can and do provide a major portion of the foundation for the success or failure that a team encounters. How many teams have we watched or been a part of that will play two different games based on which goalie starts?

The goalie in most cases IS an unlettered captain.

Its true, I found at the begginning of the season, when i was the hotter goalie my team played mroe offensively then with our other goalie in net, now that were both hot, theyve played alot less defense(wich i hate) and now they play offensively a lot more.

Assistant captains are there to serve the role of the captain if he is not on the ice. Don't forget the rule (at least in Canada) where a captain or assistant captain cannot come off the bench to talk to the referee. If he comes off the bench and wants to ask the referee a question, he can do so and stay on the ice for the ensuing faceoff. If he goes back to the bench, he gets a Delay of Game minor.

So no, goaltenders cannot wear the 'A' either.

Goalies actually seem to enjoy getting hit by pucks. It's probably best to just leave them alone.
