Lappy has below average hands and vision but he skates well, plays gritty and has good size.
Grabovsky has good speed and hockey sense, but cement hands.
Wait until Greg Stewart makes the Habs, you'll love him. He has better hands than A.Kost (almost as good as Kovalev), is bigger than Andrei too and doesn't mind dropping the gloves on any occasion. Greg will surely be one of the premier power forwards in the NHL.

Andrei rarely shoots in shootouts, not sure why. Perhaps it's because at lower levels he has had success with his move(s) so he feels more comfortable with those. Kinda surprised to see him go right down the middle of the ice last night though. In the AHL, he would use more variation in his approach. But even with the slow, down the middle approach, he still opened up the 5 hole with his move, it's just he rarely looks for it when he pulls that move (against Lehtonen being the only time I can recall). If he could add some variation to his finish on that move: the usual stuff inside the post on forehand, roof it, look for the 5 hole, that move would be more dangerous, even if goalies expect it. He has another move, but don't expect to see him try that in the NHL until he is really on his game. Hopefully he can start to use his shot though. The shootout is the best chance he'll get to use it, and we know how good his shot can be.
The habs didnt play overly bad... but they didnt play very well either....
Halak had a ugly goal in... but the other two were tough ones that he cant be fauklted for...

Maybe I see him on good games, but I've seen Stewart make some nice dekes and control the puck really well. You think he can be our Jarko Ruutu?
Then again, there are games where Ryder dekes around people like he's Kovalev. So I don't know.

I find them really funny actually. The guy is laughing like a redneck yokel while saying something ridiculous. There is so much overbite you can't take him seriously.

IMHO, Halak:
After the shutout he gets the start-good call by Carbo. Lets the goalies know if they stand on their head they're in the next game. People keep saying he was weak on the second goal.....Macdonald let go a one timer from a bounce pass off the wall. It went in short side, never a good thing for a vet goalie to let those in.....Halak is still a kid and that happens. He was caught out of position more tonight than in the past few games but all in all he was more instrumental in getting us one point than losing the game.
Lats laid out a couple of big hits he gets a pass from me.
Koivu played a good game
Kovalev's line had lots of looks but were mostly kept to the perimeter.
SK was very good again tonight, I like this kid.
Higgins looks to pass when he should shoot, but he is playing alright-pass.
Kosto finishes every check, try's to make things happen in the O-zone. pass
Smoke drives me nuts. I keep saying to myself he will be better in the playoffs but I don't know. If a guy is paid 2million to just win faceoffs that's a waste of cap $, at least with Yannic Perault (sp) he had great hands around the net!

first pairing were average.
Hammer, I think, feels alot like the fans who watch the game when Breeze-by plays .....what the hell is he doing? When Hammer plays with OB the rookie understands Hammer is the better D and make's the safe play to either get the puck out of our zone or pass it to Hammer. But when #71 plays with Roman, #71 thinks he's the vet and makes low percentage play,s this leave's them both out of position. To use a golf analogy it's like #71 trys to make Tiger Woods shots when the truth is he NOW plays like John Daly.
Franky & Gorges played good for the 3rd pairing.
Every one say's that Smoke and Breeze-by played, well, OK. When they're in the line up. My problem is we have enough rookies in the line-up to to play, well, OK. That's what we expect from rookies.......gaff's, pinching, short side goals, going for the big hit, playing the puck not the man. Our vet's shouldn't be more of a liability than the rookies, Smoke's play on the 5-3 was a brutal rookie mistake......he's out there because we signed him, as a vet, to be counted on in just those situations.
I'm glad we salvaged a point. We will lose more games....it's the manner in which we are playing that disturbs me. Hammer, Kovy, Saku & Kosto are all vets that I have confidence in. But Smoke & Breeze-by are like special ED projects the team is forced to endure.

He has to take a big chunk of the blame, he looked bad on that McDonald goal, that was one of the turning points in the game along with the controversial call that took away a goal and ended up costing one the other way. Those 2 things made the game closer than it actually was.

I still think that we were outplayed for the most part outside of the 3rd period and overtime. You can't blame Halak for that. It's the teams fault for not putting in the effort against an inferior team. They didn't look too interested in pressing the play in the first 2 periods...thats for sure. So while I agree Halak wasen't very strong....neither was his team
