Wings @ Preds 7 PM CST 3-20-08

(Playing at home is supposed to be a GOOD thing edition lol)

@

Well I would hope we come out and give it all our all, for all 3 periods... Anyways we still have a shot, but we have to pick up as many points as possible and get help, if the Northwest will beat each other up.

Anyone know who will start in net? I didn't see anything yet.

Go Preds!

I agree. . .in fact I wouldn't mind seeing Trotz give Bochenski time on the second or third line.

I think tonight qualifies as a ...

Win or go home ... I thought that on Tuesday night ... but I believe it tonight ... 7-1 OR better gets us in ... do they have it in them?

Let's hope it doesn't come to that, but I like the urgency in the message shown there.

Gotta score the first goal tonight and play from ahead. The building is going to be loud one way or the other...hopefully the Preds can win over the crowd early and we can provide the sixth man tonight!

Just for reference, here is what is left:

tonight Detroit
22nd Chicago
25th Columbus
28th at Columbus
30th at Detroit
1st at St. Louis
3rd St. Louis
4th at Chicago

Chicago, Detroit, and Columbus all twice.
And maybe room for one loss in there. Wow, considering how those inter-division games have gone, that is a tough stretch. Got to develop some momentum tonight. We have more at stake than any of those teams, except pride and their ability to play spoiler. Don't for a minute think that the Jackets, Blues, and Hawks would not love to dash the Preds playoff hopes.

Why the hell did they pull Ellis again? How does putting Mason in spark the team?

..............

In games like this, it is almost sickening to watch how the officials cater to the Red Wings. Both teams have lost discipline, but watching the game, it just seems like the Preds are having officials escort them to the box, and they simply aren't getting the calls. Heck, one official practically tackled Weber to prevent him from pulling Hartigan off one of his teammates.

Well, I think 5-3 has a shot at getting us in and 6-2 does the trick. The problem is I have a hard time seeing us go even 4-4 at this point.

I'm probably in the minority but I'd put in Mason for the remainder of the season.

The whistle 20 seconds into the third period illustrates my point exactly. We get a breakaway on a 5 on 3, and they whistle the play dead saying it was played with a high stick from a teammate. Only, it wasn't hit with a high stick, it was cleared by a defenseman at virtually ice level......

Unbelievable.

Officiating aside, it has nothing to do with why we are losing this game. We are making too many careless mistakes, and each one is costing us.

EDIT:

Wow......

Radulov just scores after the 5 on 3 ends......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the best powerplay we have had all year. What a shot by Erat. Great screen by Bonk. What a complete turnaround in the past 2 minutes..........We were being completely dominated by the Wings, yet the score is now tied with our playoff chances still possible.

Yeah, I'd say you're in the minority.

I'd rather have Eric Fichaud in net than Mason at this point. The soft Franzen goal blew any chance of coming back to win. And while Datsyuk's goal was a breakaway, he beat Mason cleanly with a shot from just below the top of the circles. He doesn't make the big save, ever. I hate that this season has been such a failure for him, but I really worry about next season, when we don't even have Ellis to fall back on.

Dont get me wrong, I'm scared ****less at the thought of not ditching him in the offseason but I'm grasping at straws that he might get hot in a 7 game stretch. I think Ellis is playing to his potential and it won't be enough.

Anybody that knows hockey will understand that it will realistically take 6-1 for the Preds to get in, and alot of losses going the way towards the Flames, Canucks, and Avs.

Lets just say that the Avs go on a slump and go 3-5. That's 90 points. Because the Preds have such a discrepancy in wins, you will need to get 92 points to take the last spot. For the Flames or the Canucks, judging by the scores tonight, do you expect them to go 2-6 the rest of the way? Because of the amount of divisional games, this is just not possible.

The Preds are done this season. Putting Mason in was a horrible move in my mind, not that Ellis is better. The move doesn't send the right message to the team...that and Ellis is probably better.

We'll take Trotz. If you want, you can have Alain Vigneault.

I'd much rather have the guy that is the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres AHL squad ... Randy Cunneyworth

I think you'd be better off with Scott Arniel, the head coach of the Manitoba Moose that have won 8 straight while icing a roster full of PTO players. He's also a former Buffalo Sabres assistant coach. He's a really good Special teams guy.

Man, you guys have some real junk in net this year. I feel bad for you. If you guys still had Vokoun not only do I think you'd be in the playoffs but I'd actually be afraid of your team. Are you guys gonna stick with this tandem next year or go out and try to sign a goalie?
