[SWE] Wikegård appreciation (and bash) thread

I think he has done a wonderful job for TV3 as a commentator. One would have to be a madman to call him objective, but man is he entertaining to listen to.
He moans, he screams, he has great comments about players, work-ethics etc.
I enjoy listening to him very much

Totally agree, he's an emotional guy and he's not ashamed of it

I'd pay to get him to shut up, or turn off all the commentators on TV3. Does anyone know when TV3's contract for showing the WC ends, and some channel that has some knowledge about sports can get the contract?

I think he sucks, any clown would be able to shout Yes or No. I prefer a commentator that actually have something good to say, he´s just full of bs. I wouldn´t be at all surprised if has a framed picture of Don Cherry in his office.

And why does he say "P-J" in english...?

hehe, the only channel that would do a fully pro-job is Canal + IMO, but that would mean that even less Swedish hockey fans would get to see the tournament.
SVT and Åsa sucks (no commercials though, that is a good thing), TV4 sucks more than Traci Lords did back in the day .. so there is not much left.

I don't know. But do as I do, turn down the volume, and listen to the radio. Lasse Granqvist, LG Jansson and Tommy Åström are superb, giving the games another dimension. It also seems the games are more exciting when you listen to those guys, as every pass seems to be a gamebreaker Very nice!

Robertsson,
I've tried that a couple of times but the radio broadcast is not always synced with the tv broadcast
Granqvist is clearly No. 1 though, IMO.

I know that's a problem, especially if you listen to the webradio, can be up to 10 seconds after. The "analoga" radio is much better, against Finland it was perfect sync.

When the World Cup starts I want the swedish games on tape WITH the radio sound. Guess I have to use some of my very bad techniqal skills.

Bah, you're all a bunch of whining babies. Wikegård is a great improvement from grumpy boring old Boork. But I guess that as usual, everything that has something to do with Wikegård it is a love or hate situation.

I love the guy, I mean have you ever heard a commentator cry out "ssaaaatan" when Tre Kronor fails to score on a great chance. Very entertaining

One guy I miss is Tommy Boustedt. He used to be great. Much better third guy than Jonas Bergqvist who really isn't adding much to the show. I'd rather see Gert Fylking in a pink jogging outfit harassing finnish people, but thats soo old..

I have to say Wikegård is very entertaining, as I see it's like he´s coaching the game from the commentators box. He's not close to being the best "expert" but he sure is one of the most entertaining ones...

Aha, care to elaborate that?

Åke Unger isn´t so funny to listen to, but watching him gesticulate during the games is comedy on the highest level. One commentator that I absolutely hate more than any other, including Åsa, is Kristian Andersson, Canal +. I´m fed up with his pronunciations of foreign players, Rannick etc...

They need to sign Calle Johansson once the Leafs are eliminated.

I have to agree with that. He doesn't know anything either, even though he has been better than he was in the beginning.

Magnus Nyström know a lot of things, but he isn't that good as commentator. He talks about a lot of other things than the game, long stories about players or teams.

One thing I think swedish commentators generally have a hard time doing is finding their own style. They try to sound like Hägerfors or Grankvist or whatever instead of developing their own style. That makes them bleak and uncarismatic. Then there's also the problem that a lot of them are quite incompetent
