Huselius-- UFA

Just wondering if anyone thinks he could fit in well in Montreal?? He is an UFA who is making $1.4M this year. He is out scoring Tanguay this year and seems to be in Keenan's doghouse. Keenan has run many good players out of town(Luongo etc)

I was thinking he may be a cheaper and better choice than HOSSA or HAVLAT and they are all around the same age.

I am so glad Gainey didn't trade Higs and all those picks for Sundin and had some doubts about acquiring Hossa so I am not sure I would want Gainey to spend to much for a UFA this offseason but if you could get Huselius for around $4.5 per would it be worth it?

Honestly, I think you are far more likely to see Gainey go via the trade route to acquire a center like Jokinen or Lecavalier (if the rumours that he wants out are true) than sign anybody.

Well, I'm pretty sure he could be really good replacing Ryder to play along with koivu and Tender next year

honestly, I hope we dont sign any UFA unless he's an impact player.
Id rather have our youngsters play on our toplines.

We need the biggest/strongest physical forward we can get, not a guy like Huselius.

We've got Mathieu ******** Dandenault!

No to Huselius.

This summer, we're landing Lecavalier

I dont think its a good fit at all. I think the team is well equipped skill wise. I think the team will start to add some elements of grit and playoff experience going forward.... and huselius brings none of that

I'd probably offer him up to 5-6m for 4-5 years, he's a very under-rated player, and the Flames probably won't be able to sign him after all the big contracts they've given to Iginla, Kipper & Phenuf.

He's definitely higher on my list than Hossa or Havlat. He might not have an obvious place on our roster, but if you can get a *free* player of his caliber for a reasonable price, you do it.

This was my initial thought...put Lats on RW and Huselius on LW with Koivu
Like another poster said you are adding a 75 pt person for free. So many people wanted Hossa, Huselius could be a better fit. Speed and skill fits in with the Habs style

Don't forget Tanguay is still in the books for next year, unless they move him at the draft, or before fa starts.

Why not offer a mill, or two more to Hossa and land a player who wasn't ever placed on waivers?

At 5-6 mil a year? Huselius is obviously a very talented player but he doesn't bring any intangibles that might warrant that type of money. We're not offensively starved so he wouldn't be filling any needs. I honestly don't see us signing anyone really this summer. Maybe a number 4 D with experience. Next year though, I hope we make a bid for Lecavalier. That should be interesting.

Huselius wouldn't fit any of our team's needs. We won't be in a position to make the highest bid on him.

If he would go for 4 for three years he would be a useful asset. Adding him would be great as he can make plays. The Habs do need to add a coupld of Nathan Moreaus, Ian Lapierre's etc.

I agree... I think he's a really good player... and could fit on our team...

however, I'd like to see gainey try and package something to get an impact player... instead of having higgins, s.kos, grabs, ryder? , ect... playing on the 3rd line... (if we sign ufa's)

the UFA market this year isin't really interesting...(to me) but laraque instead of smolinski seems like a nice fit. If you need another center you recall chips.... bingo.

and then we play the leafs and sens and tucker+neil meet laraque ...

If we sign a UFA it's a good shut-down centre like Ryan Johnson.

We need nothing else.
