JAD. Probably his biggest fanboy but he is really good. His skating is amazing and he is just a great all around player, but could still improve a little bit defensively. Would not be surprised if he has a monster year next year

Like Poehling's projectability. He has great size, good instincts, competes hard and knows where to be. He was put in a situation over his head as the youngest kid in D1 in a tough conference with quite average linemates. He's not going to be a guy who drives offense at a high-level, but I see a David Backes type upside with him, and that is a player I take.

Anderson-Dolan, outside of his skating can leave me underwhelmed. Poehling outplayed him at the under-18's by a noticeable margin, and while Anderson-Dolan wasn't there, Poehling had a great Hlinka. This happened despite Poehling be a noticeably more raw player. I'm willing to give a guy who flashes the tools Poehling has and has played well against his age group the benefit of the doubt. It's a massive jump for a 17-year-old to go directly to the NCAA from High school hockey, especially for a good, but not superstar prospect. Guys like Werenski and Hanifin made the jump at 17, but both were USNTDP guys who had reps against college players and USHL experience.

Pohling is one of three guys I like who could possibly be there for the Leafs at 17 with Andersson and Suzuki. Although I'll be fine with anyone we take due to having faith in the current staff, and there never being sure things at that spot.

Hard to say. I really enjoy watching Anderson-Dolan when i'm at his games but must confess i have never attended a St. Cloud game ever. Watched Poehling a bit on youtube but that doesn't really get you far as you're at the mercy of the cameraman and video editor.
If Toronto doesn't select a defenseman i'd be quite pleased to hear the name Anderson-Dolan called out.

I thought I was higher on JAD than most, but apparently I was quite mistaken. I would have him as a sizable drop from Poehling.

I have JAD ranked in my top 10.

If he were born 4 days later he would be seen as a consensus top 10 pick in next year's draft, which is considerably stronger than this year. I'd take him high because of his ceiling, but recognize he's a longer term project.

I don't like either in the top 20 but I prefer Dolan.

Exactly.

Dolan rode Yamamoto big time. Something like 65% of his points IIRC. Poehling at his best is unstoppable.

Dolan is good, upside is Derek Stepan or Adam Henrique. But Poehling is bigger, better defensively and more fun to watch.

He did spend about half the season on a line with Yamamoto but he certainly wasn't riding him. He creates a lot of his own chances. Most Spokane games I watched, I saw him lined up with Keanu Yamamoto (69 pts), Hudson Elynuik (73 pts), Pavel Kousal (10 pts), or Wyatt Sloboshan (only played 1 game with Spokane but 31 pts on the season) and he was still just as impressive.

For some perspective, His most common teammates were:

64.18% - Kailer Yamamoto
50.75% - Ty Smith
48.51% - Tyson Helgesen
34.33% - Keanu Yamamoto
29.85% - Hudson Elynuik

My exact thoughts. Without Yamamoto JAD likely isn't even 1st round thoughts. Poehling could be a fairly dominant 1B kinda guy at worst 2C imo.
