kessel

what would you give up for him???

ive been to a couple b's games this year and he looked amazing, but then you look at his stats expecting him to have a lot of points but he only has around 30 this year

from a NYR standpoint i have no idea, but i would love to get him

...and is it true that he is being shopped???

He was dangled for Hossa and only for Hossa, but the deal fell through because of the lack of an extension.

Kessel is continuing to develop his two way game, and has finally begun to show a commitment to defense. He's still only 20, though.

Is he available? Yes, for the right offer. Is he being shopped? No.

Somehow I doubt that.

I heard the guy was socially inept, arrogant and cocky, in other words he has a bad attitude, put that with his lack of scoring and I assume he would be dangled for a Hossa type player. Not too mention him, Bergeron, and Savard play very similarily.

Yeah I've read Future Greats and Heartbreaks too. That to me seems like a slightly more reasonable reason to try and move a #5 pick than "he doesn't hit".

Kessel is only 20. He will get better at taking the body as his body matures along with his game. The B's would be smart not to move him at such a young age. The only people who critisize him are the people on this board, most on the B's board. I don't think he will be moved anytime soon, and it really irritates me that people are always on him. He isn't a problem in the locker room and just goes about his business. The problem the B's have right now is that they can't score. Kessel is a part of that problem but isn't the whole problem. When you have a top centerman like Savard with wingers like Axellson and the slug Murray, that creates problems right away.
This team is far from doing anything anytime soon. It's a work in progress to rebuild, and that's what they are doing. Kessel is part of that rebuilding process, and to trade him would be a big mistake on their part. That's what the B's did in the past. Who knows if he'll pan out, but at least they should let him grow on the team and not for someone else.

This is pretty much all false. Especially the part about playing a similar game to Savard and Bergeron. Bergeron is a physical two-way centre, Savard is slippery playmaker, while Kessel on the other hand is a speedy goal scoring winger. Their games are really nothing alike.

I'm sure Kessel could be a available for the right price (along with 98% of the players in the league), but I doubt he is being shopped around. Chiarelli's priority's this off-season will be to move guys Murray and Schaefer, not a young 20 year old winger.

His stats don't look all that impressive from an individual standpoint, but you should also consider that he's:

3rd on the team in goals among forwards
4th on the team in points among forwards
3rd on the team in ES points among forwards
2nd on the team in SOG

He's top 3 or 4 in most offensive categories, all while getting 2nd unit PP time and being 7th on the team in TOI/G. It's not like he's doing bad for a 20 year old sophmore forward, just not exactly lighting things up.

That said, he still has A LOT to work on if he plans on being anything close to a top line player in this league. The most noticeable weakness in his game is his lack of strength. He often gets knocked off the puck way too easily, which leaves him relying way too much on his speed and agility to retain possesion of the puck. Hopefully for his sake he'll fill out some of that small frame over the summer (He's listed as 6'0 180).

What it would take to pry him out of Boston, I don't really know. As a Bruin fan I'd like to think it would take a young top-4 Dman, (20-23ish) with potential of being a solid 2/3 guy on a good team.

I think he's been playing not too bad but he could be a bit bigger and if he adds a couple pounds of muscle he could turn out to be a pretty solid scoring winger.

That wouldn't get you Kessel and Lashoff's jerseys.

I think the Bruins would move Kessel if they could get a player of similar age and upside on defense. Guys like Suter, Niskanen, Gilbert, Edler. But the fact is, those teams love those players so I don't see him getting moved.

Although a guy, who doesn't have as sexy a name, but looks like a future stud is Chris Campoli. He was arguably the Isles best all around defenseman this year, has a great contract and is only going to get better. I could see a deal like that, similar to Boyes-Wideman, where the B's give up the big name, but get a good player at a more important position, and are quite happy with the return.

What? They wear the same jersey but that's where the similarities end.
