I said Wheeler not Scheifele. We won't be able to afford him and he would bring back a king's ransom. No way TNSE does it though.

Don't think ehlers signs 6 for 8
Maybe 6 for 6

Wheeler makes more sense than Little
Little's injuries and somewhat regression is an argument to be made
So Little may not cost as much
And Little is our best 2 way centre who's also the best in the dot

Wheeler is still one of the best wingers(top 20) in league
Better to yet and get value out of him
But if we can keep him we should

Where did I mention Scheifele?

It's a ridiculous notion to trade your best player right when you're ready to start contending. No team would do it.

Why can't we afford him? There's a ton of cap space. Chevy has managed the cap very well. There's lots of time and many ways to manage any future cap crunch.

I think the answer to this question is 'Yes'.

Does Drouin's contract seem like something very similar to what Ehlers might sign?

6 x 5.5m.

i would think so. ehlers would be a bit of discounted this summer as he still has a year of entry level to go.

Both Ehlers and Laine will sign for less than they could to stay together. Bromance trumps all.

If Ehlers doesn't bridge, I would only give him 5m for a 6 year deal. Doesn't he have 4 years of RFA after this year?

Ehlers and his agent aren't stupid. They know that Ehlers could have easily break 70 points in this year with little better luck in pp. His even strenght point totals are just crazy. 8th best in league. While Drouin was 192th... That overrated Nylander kid was 88th. https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/s...-leaders/2016/

Sure if he wants to take discount then sure, he can sign for 2x8 deal if he wants to. But it's possible that he score 80-90 in next year. So he wont sign similar deal than Drouin. He's far superior. And ofc I know that Jets fans want him to sign team friendly deal. And if that number starts with 6 it is.

Scheifele (3rd), Ehlers (8th), Wheeler (13th), Laine (15th) just to name four .....man the Jets can generate offense at even strength. Can you imagine how many points this team will put up if they ever have a top 10 power play?

Yikes, scary good. Imagine if Connors is ready to contribute full time, sure he will only help in even strength goals

Scary good is right. Add Connor.

I think they need to play better team D in front of better goaltending. That may reign in some of the offense a bit but when you look at the trajectories of some of these players it is still going to go up even with better 2 way play.

I think if Nik see's the bigger picture he takes a team friendly contract. There is a lot of very good young talent on this team that if kept together would be extremely scary

Really hope they can get there pp going next season!
