So would Chara most likely if he were exposed. I think she is hopeful that even if we protect Killer, Vegas will take someone not named McQuaid . It is possible, but on the surface it's hard to see anyone on our roster being as attractive to the Golden Knights as one of three potential defenseman exposees.

There is no way they protect Quaider over Kevin.

We're gonna lose a D, the only question is if we trade one away first for a pick. Seems likely.

For a team with a crappy D (snicker) they will likely expose 1 of Morrow McQuaid K Miller or C Miller

Do they leave Spooner out there ?

Bruins are praying for Beleskey or Hayes to be plucked Exposing Spooner makes that doubtful.Just my opinion.

There is zero chance they are selected without hostages involved

That would be quite nice. Spooner has the most value of anyone that isn't a D, and quite frankly means a lot less to the team than any of our D. Maybe Vegas sees him as a potential top 6 LW. He played most of the year there and was somewhat productive 5 on 5 and still young. We only have 5 forwards worth protecting and 5 D, I really hope we can trade a D for a forward worth protecting before the expansion draft.

This .^ They can only take one player.

I like both Adam and Kevan.

I do too. It's sad seeing the pool of the 2011 champs get smaller and smaller seemingly by the day. It still feels a lot like the same guys, but if Quaider leaves... It's just Bergy, Krejci, Chara, Rask and Marchand. I guess technically Khudobin?

It's a no-brainer to protect Killer for me, though. I thought he was absolutely fantastic late in the season. We need more grittiness and toughness, and he has that in spades. He's had his ups and downs, Montreal 2014 I'm looking at you, but I think a lot of the flak he gets is because of how God awful he was in that series. He's pretty consistent. He's a rock in the bottom 6, but McQuaid has always been injury prone.

I would be very sad to see him go, though. I've never gotten the chance to meet him but he seems like a really stand-up guy who's loved by the team. It's crazy seeing his serial killer smile on the ice, but then watching his post-game interview where he's so soft-spoken and quiet.

He really blossomed under Cassidy. Ideally he is a 3rd pair.

There's a thread on the main board titled "Penguins looking for toughness that can "play on a regular basis." (It didn't specify at forward.)

Sure, fighting's role is diminished in today's game, but there's the two-time defending champs saying they want that element in their lineup. Perhaps they foresee a Final match-up with Edmonton on the horizon?

Maybe the goon role will cease to exist, but I see teams needing guys that can keep opponents honest, who can actually play. Kevan Miller fits the bill perfectly.

The improvement he showed in his skating last year was remarkable. Tough son of a ***** as well - shame he's had to deal with the recurrent shoulder issues. Love seeing him drop the gloves.

Edit: also, that goal in Chicago

he was good late in the season and finished strong, but was horrible for 3/4 of the season.

and that's what stands out for me.

inconsistent.

he can be good for stretches, but he can also be pretty bad for longer stretches.

Horrible for 3/4 of the season? That's simply not true.

I have always liked him as a player but probably wouldn't have protected him had he not turned it on like he did the last half of the season.

Hope it's not a Beleskey/Clarkson/Leino type of thing.

He cut down his monumental gaffes considerably and overall was solid . Ideally , he is a 3rd pairing defenceman but considering the makeup of the team , he will likely play on the 2nd pair . I actually feel more comfortable with K Miller in that role over C Miller or McQuaid .

People talk about how he ended the season as if its an indication of his future play.

This is what happens most seasons with him. Stretches of good play with euqual or longer stretches of bad play.

I'm more comfortable with Mcquaid on a regular basis than Miller.

And i think Mcquaid brings more ro the team than Miller does.

His skating puts him ahead of McQ IMO. He improved it so much last year, it adds a big element to his game.

Same for me. I would have kept both McQuaid or C.Miller over him.
