Why would Tampa accept Bowey++ over Sergachev(+2nd)?

If Drouin can get 6x$5.5M on an RFA contract with no arb rights after a single 53 point season, Kuzy will be $6.5M+.

If the Caps gave Kuznetsov the same $6.7 AAV as Backstrom would anyone be upset? Yes it is high and Backstrom got his after a 101 point season but now nobody is getting 100 points. I wouldn't hate it, anything under that is a blessing and anything over is a bad deal for the Caps

I'd be okay with it. Hopefully his strong finish to this season leads to more consistent success over next season but he's clearly a top line center on a lot of teams and a very good 2C on this team. Pay the man for his prime years.

Jonathan Drouin got $5.5M essentially only one meaningful season (53 points), buying only two UFA years without any arbitration leverage.

Kuznetsov is coming off of seasons of 59 and 77 points, and in all likelihood will buy several UFA years and has arbitration leverage.

If he settles for $6M or less, he's taking a serious discount.

It's a sad teistment to the lack of offensively skilled players when a 50-something point guy is getting 5.5+. Obviously they're betting he explodes and it turns out to be a bargain. I'm not so sure $6 mil per for Kuzy is a serious discount. Kucherov's deal is a serious discount.

Anyone else think that trade by Habs spells the end for Max Pacioretty -era in Montreal?

From main page on trade forum

Quote:
Sources around the NHL have indicated to The Dispatch that the Blue Jackets have reached agreement with the Vegas Golden Knights on a trade that will be announced during the expansion draft Wednesday in Las Vegas. With this trade the Blue Jackets will pay dearly to dissuade the Golden Knights from taking Anderson, Korpisalo or one of the veteran defensemen — Jack Johnson or David Savard — that they would have exposed.

The Jackets are believed to be trading this year’s first-round draft pick (No. 24 overall) and a prospect (not Pierre-Luc Dubois or Sonny Milano) to Vegas for assurances that the Golden Knights will select either left wing Matt Calvert, center William Karlsson or defenseman Ryan Murray.

I can't tell if that's just cause they have such good players available or if it's just the cost necessary for Vegas to not make the move. Makes me wonder what we'd have to unload to get Vegas to pick Grubauer over Schmidt, or even Orpik.

It would be close to the breaking point for me. He is a soft perimeter player that disperse for games at a time.

Still as long as he makes a few fancy plays every now and then most people around here will be happy.

I think you just hate Kuzya to be honest, you'll be unhappy no matter what he signs for.

I'm mostly just struck by how many good players Columbus has exposed.

What? Columbus is paying to Vegas for picking Ryan Murray?

Seriously, what the hell. Murray is often injured but when healthy he's definitely a good top-4 D at worst, and still young. Could easily end up as top-pairing D if he can stay healthy.

Well, good for LV.

Eberle dealt to the Isles for Strome, straight up.

Reminder that all NHL GMs are good at their jobs and not part of an old boys' club.

Devils kicking the tires on Hjalmarsson, but Hossa's LTIRment might help enough with Chicago's cap issues that they don't need to shed a defenseman. Still would probably be worth poling around Hammer.

Devs also talking about Galchenyuk. To go from no forward talent at all to Hall and Galchenyuk in the span of one season would completely reshape that roster. Probably not a contender yet, but would be much closer to having a competitive roster.

A competent Devils will make the Metro just that much tougher.
