Adidas does which is why every team is doing these redesign adds.

Yes, I know that Adidas cares and the NHL cares but for the average fan, if there's no real change to the design of the uniforms other than the fabric and stitching, etc., I can't see it being that big of a deal. There's been some speculation that there will be some modifications to the overall design for some teams so I can understand the interest from the fans of those teams but if there is no real change to the Jets uniforms I will remain uninterested in the switch from Reebok to Adidas.

Some teams are making more radical changes. Oilers are going to a dominant orange colour.

There will be more changes than just slapping an Adidas logo on it though. It looks like it'll be a more form-fitting material, different material for the logo. There'll probably be just enough subtle tweaks to try and entice people to buy new jerseys.

Yeah I understand the technology and colour tweeks. The teams that are tweeking were likely going that way regardless. The Oilers wore orange a lot last year.

And that's exactly what this hype is all about. Selling jerseys. Perhaps side by side you'll notice a difference between the old and the new.

Why? To sell more merch. With a significant jersey change, I would be much more inclined to pick up a couple of new ones for me and the missus. Now, why would I bother?

Think of the outrage in Montreal or Chicago though.

I'm not saying every team should undergo a drastic makeover. IMO some should, including the Jets. We may not have the most disgusting uniforms in the league but I think there's room for improvement.

You don't need to change to uniform maker to change the look of your jerseys. Look at all the versions of Ducks out there. Some teams have changed and then gone back traditional.

I just don't know why people expected big things out of this just because it was moving from Reebok to Adidas.

Again, because Adidas wants to motivate fans to replace their old Reebok designs and make more money. Although without the draw strings, no way I'm buying an Adidas jersey even if it had Snoopy in his Sopwith Camel for a logo. The draw strings are an excellent fidget toy, as I'm sitting there bored with another sad effort.

And the league or the teams have no say? That doesn't sound like a contract Bettman would sign.

Most of the jerseys the public will buy are being contracted out to another company IIRC. Adidas will only make the pro weight not the replica

Of course they have a say. Which is why I'm sure many if not all uniforms will see little change. I'm just saying it's in Adidas' financial interests to try and get them to sit down with their design people so they can run some ideas by them.

Yes, the replicas are being handled through Fanatics. I'm unclear on how the financials work. Does Adidas not get anything from replica sales through Fanatics?

That oilers jersey is kinda hideous.

Preach sister!

I think my jerseys (men's and women's) would sit weird regardless of if I had a chest or not. I'd definitely wear them out more if that wasn't the case.

That goes beyond kinda. Why would they add a black stripe? It ruins the colour scheme.

I hope this isn't the actual jersey.

My rules:

1. No more black.

2. No more colour-so-dark-it-may-as-well-be-black.

3. Easy on the stripes.

4. Max 2 colours other than white.

5. Jets' current logo on classic 70's would be fine by me.

6. No contrasting armpit colour. Ever.

Horrifying thought: What if all the teams are getting the toilet seat collar? That would look pretty crappy. Can't see the fans being flush with excitement about that. Sure wouldn't see me pissing away my money on one of those.

Gosh that was annoying. I guess static-y cam is the new wobbly cam. Way to show the parts that aren't changing. All they are really doing is lessening my interest in The Reveal.

Does the right half of the jet look blue to you, instead of dark grey?

god damn that shoulder logo is still so horrible.
why not logically use the first script logo from the WHA or use the 80s logo as the shoulder logo?
