Nice going Ty!

US upsets the Czechs, 3-2 in a shootout.

Conklin stops 41 of 43 shots for the win.

Conks

That includes the 5 shots in the shootout, right?

First off, big ups to Conks. Not only did the coaching staff essentially annoint him their starter, but he came up huge when it mattered.

Second, I don't know if the shootout shots count, but if they do, he didn't stop all five. I know that Dopita's shot (the fifth one) went wide, so it wouldn't have counted.

Big test for him coming up though, Forsberg and Lidstrom are both going to be in the lineup for Sweden in the semis.

Go Ty go!

Thanx, hadn't heard the 'particulars'.

imho - Lidstrom and Forsberg looked uncharacteristically 'human' in the POs.
Apparently, Foppa's having surgery "in a week or two".

Don't know how effective he'll be.

According to the World Championships board here at HF, two shootout rounds ended in both teams hitting the post, another round ended in both goalies making the save, and then the last round where Roach scored and Dopita didn't. So if serum114 is right and Dopita missed on the Czech's last shot, Conklin stopped one in the shootout.

But hey, he won a big game when it mattered and he stopped a high-powered Czech team that Canada couldn't beat, and which had the home crowd. Congrats to Ty!

Here's a link to a video clip of the shootout
http://www.kolumbus.fi/ospa/czech-usa_shootout.avi (28 mb)

Looks like Jagr hit the post, Dopey missed, and a couple good saves. Nice glove save off of what looked like Havlat

Way to go Ty!

Great job TY!!!! Well done. You just stoned some of the finest hockey player in the world one on one.

Anyone else thinking we are fine in net with Conks and Jussi? I have no worries there at all.

Maybe the kid will start to get some respect for something besides his donneybrooks.

Hey, is there any other goalie in the league that could take Conklin? Or is he the Mike Tyson of the NHL goalie crew?

Maybe Dan "Bam Bam" Cloutier is seeking the title, having beat the snot out of Tommy Salo during the latter's days with the Fishsticks.

All Conklin's agent has to do is get hold of Cloutier's agent, Don King.

I have been watching Conks three times at this World Champonship. In these games he was really good, especially in shoot-out win over Czech. Very calm, exellent poise. And Conklin outplayed Danham if anybody interested.
Sometimes, not very often though, he had problems with rebound control, as usual , but in general i can give him a grade B+.
Also, it should be metioned, that Ty allowed 3 goals on 13 shots vs Denmark and was replaced after the first period. But overall he is making a very good impression with his perfomance.

Salo isn't a fighter though. Don King will want to represent a true fighter In Conklin.
