Captain Kovalev for 6 weeks.

Oh well, the only bright side of all those injuries is the rise of Captain Kovalev. Man, captain of the most famous hockey franchise in the world.... Kovy must be a very proud man. Can't wait to see him in the playoffs owning with the C.

I don't agree with Kovy wearing the "C". I prefer having 3 "A" as a sign of respect for Saku.

I have no doubt Saku was consulted before any rash decisions were made.

No... Kovalev lead the team all year long... it's mainly because of him if we're 2nd in the east at the moment. It's fully deserved.

That's a point tho, pretty sure Koivu is fine with that.

Last year I would have said the same thing... this year, I think Kovy deserves it. And I have a feeling Saku was part of the decision, or at least consulted. For all we know, it could have been Saku's idea.

here we go again....

if price gets injured , we should keep halak on the bench, and play with an empty net ... that would be respectfull to price ...

edit: in the player's mind, it's good to have another captain on the ice...

agreed

also... let's see how well our beloved habs do without Saku... (u kno the guy we don't need )

p.s. Saku might come back earlier... i mean he had a punctured long and a fractured rib caged and still managed to put up ppg in a series vs. Boston.

Saku is a beast... ppl around here don't seem to grasp it.

So if Saku doesn't play and Kovy is captain while he's out, and the Habs are bumped in the 1st round, is everyoe going to jump on Kovy for failing to lead this team to victory?

Why is everyone saying 6 weeks? TSN is reporting that he could be playing next week in the playoffs depending on if he can play through the pain.

Meh,knowing the french media and the brainless fans who believe any damn thing they say,Kovalev will certainly get abused for his poor leadership skills and his dedication. Then Koivu will be blamed as usual and there will be trade requests to boot him out of town this summer.

Rince,recycle,repeat.

I don't think he'll start in the playoff but if Habs lost their first 2 games at home, he'll be back.

having 3 As was cool when people like Corson and Zholtok were on this team. But with some great leader like Kovalev, it's really a no brainer

edit: loved zholtok when he was in Montreal, but not like he deserved to wear the C or anyhting

Saku will play in the first round (if necessary), a combination of convalescence, treatment in a hyperbaric chamber, pain meds and the fact that he's a tough SOB almost guarantees it.
