I was gonna say, maybe Koivu will be jumping on the ice in his suit to celebrate the cup victory?
It would be much more dramatic if he was wheeled out in a wheelchair, holding a puppy in his arms and when he tries to get up to hoist the cup, he falls on the ice but slowly, courageously gets up and takes the Cup over his head...
Merely a coincidence but not a signficant one as Savard had his worst of 3 (mostly) disappointing years as a Hab. I think he failed to hit 20 for the first time in his career (not even 50 pts. for the first time ever as well), injuries were taking their toll too (not to mention a pack o' smokes as your light workout). Savard was a well-liked vet and the team was happy to bring him a cup but he in no way compares to Saku.
He was less of a force, less of an emotional inspiration and was certainly way down the depth chart of best scorers (considering the team scored 326 which was almost top 5in the league in 92/93). So, just cause we were able to win when Savard broke his foot (in the finals it should be noted) doesn't really matter at all.
