Ribeiro, I would take Mike over Koivu anytime, much more dominant offensive players, he is not average defensively, much younger, we let a so gifted talented french canadian forward go to keep a declining finnish leader who never had a good season offensively like Mike is having this year.
Recchi, I always liked Mark Recchi, since his first Flyers season.
Ribeiro has to prove me yet that he can produce at that pace several times.Until that,I'll still consider him only a one-hit wonder/ who played for a contract year. He's talented though.Koivu is definitely the better player and way more established as a solid offensive player, but Ribeiro can be really excellent if he wants.
As for the thread,Best wishes to Zeddy,Huet,Robidas,Conroy, and Shelly with the Oilers.
Saw this on the Flyers board...which players that played in Montreal do you still root for, even though they now play in other cities?
For the Habs, I like to see a guy like Robidas and Garon do well, although that's probably mostly because they're in the Western Conference. Seeing Rivet have probably his best year is pretty good too, especially considering how the trade worked so well for the Habs too. Also, Zednik, Zubrus, Hainsey...and a bunch of others that I enjoy when they have a good game.
In terms of other sports, I like to see most of the former Expos play well. Vladimir is still my favorite baseball player, and Vidro, Cabrera, Hernandez, Schneider bring back some memories.
What about YOU
Rivet and Huet are guys i'd like to see do well. I appreciated their efforts while they were here.
As for the Spos: Vlad, Livan and Cabs were keepers but Vidro and Scheinder couldn't wait to get out of here so they can suck my rear end cuz they were bottom feeders and complete butt wipes.
I'm still bitter so forgive my low tolerance levels!!
Mark Recchi. When I first moved to Montreal Mark was the reigning NHL iron-man and the lone offensive spark for our team... then the wheels fell off the franchise for a bit. Mark got pneumonia to end his streak, Reggie Houle got canned, and we lost something like an NHL record 550 man-games to injuries. When the Penguins dumped Mark earlier this season, I was hoping that he'd have a homecoming of sorts here in Montreal... but I guess this stacked, division-winning team didn't really need him anymore!
I've still got his old #8 jersey (heavy duty with a fighting strap... it's now covered in my blood from a high stick incident) that I pull out when I watch the Habs.
I still cheer for Huet and Rivet... and guys like Brett Clark, Matt Pettinger and others that we drafted but that didn't make it to the show with the habs.

theodore, and huet... thats basically it.... cant really think of anyone else right now
Chelios,Huet,Balej and Downey. Recchi lost me when he went with the Pens, lol. Oh and Vlad was unreal too he's probaly one of the few baseball player i care about.
Oleg Petrov, not in the NHL anymore but man did that guy ever play hard for the habs, had a hard time putting the puck in the net but he generated a ton of chances.
Theodore, Souray, and Rivet.
really happy to see Theo and Rivet doing so well this seasons.
specially Theo with all the injury avs had with sakic, statsny, svatos and smyth. Theo basically took the avs into the playoffs pretty much. ohh and i like Scheinder also but never saw him as a habs.
happy for all of them.
