A Fitting End - More injuries

Brodziak broke his finger in the 2nd period and had it taped up to finish the game.

Hemsky hurt his knee (apparentely re-aggrivated) and wanted to come back but the medical staff wouldn't allow it saying it was too risky. According to MacT its a sprained knee... whatever that means.

I imagine the Falcons want to keep those guys with the farm, they are still in a playoff hunt. Maybe Sanderson gets healthy and Roy comes in as forward, or Grebs/Gilbert/Pitkanen play forward and Roy slides in for one of them.

they might as well get all the injuries out of their systems

and for some reason, i also believed Hemsky was dying to get on, but the injury was probably too severe... the guy is a serious gamer

That would be interesting. Imagine the reaction of the 'Nucks to a line of:

Grebeshkov-Cogliano-Pitkanen

-and a d pairing of-

Nilsson-Gagner

It would be a horrendous idea as far as coaching is concerned, but it would sure be fun to watch and would be a fun way to have the kids blow off some steam after a great run.

How pissed do you think the preds/flames would be if we did that for the final game

Hemsky is one hell of a player. The guy just needs to add some beef to his frame.

What will they do for the final game? They will insert Sanderson and Roy and just go with 11 forwards and 8 defensemen.

What's the Falcons schedule for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday? Maybe we call up Trukhno and Schremp (emergency: for Hemsky and Brodziak) and play them.

Also, are they still in the playoff hunt? If so, maybe Brodziak, Gilbert, Cogliano and Nilsson should go down. It'd definitely be a boon for the Falcons.

I wish we were in a position were an Edmonton loss on Thursday would bump out Calgary. I really want to play the role of spoiler, but I think it would be a lot easier if us losing would cost them a spot.

It will be a good test for this team, I will be disappointed if they come out flat.

With only 1 single game left and the Falcons fighting for their playoff lives. I wonder if they will just play with a short bench for one game.

The Falcons play tomorrow and then again on Friday. Also remember they take bus trips mostly down there. That would be a lot of stress on those guys and then immediately fly back and jump into the weekend games. I would just leave them there at this point.

i was seriously hoping to see pitkanen go as a forward when hemsky went down tonite. he'd fit in seamlessly seeing as he spends at least half his game in the offensive zone anyways

A loss to Vancouver on Thursday (depending on Nashville of course) makes the Calgary/Vancouver game VERY interesting. Vancouver wins that (and Calgary loses to Minny before then), they will be tied for points with 92 and both have the same amount of wins. So, a loss to Vancouver could be part of the whole Calgary elimination.

I suggested this;

OFF, Operation **** the Flames.

Step 1: Lose to Vancouver, either in regulation or OT it doesnt matter.

Step 2: Watch the Flames choke against Minnesota.

Step 3: Watch the Flames continue to choke against Vancouver and miss the playoffs.

I sprained my shoulder once (in a totally retarded way), it was extremely painful. I could not lift my arm or extend it, getting dressed every day was like a chore because it was so painful. Showers were also tricky, washing my hair sucked since I could only lift one arm properly. If a sprained knee is anything close to that, I can't see his skating being as good as it is. He would basically be in pain for every stride, and they wouldn't be nearly as smooth as they normally are.

Just to add in here, rather than making 3 posts in a row. The injury report has been updated. Hemsky and Brodziak are both for sure out for Vancouvers game. It'll be interesting to see who replaces them on Thursday.

I would like to see Schremp up. Sanderson will probably draw in I would think.

Penner Gagner Pisani
Schremp Cogliano Nilsson
Sanderson Stoll Reasoner
Glencross Pouliot Stortini

Would be interesting.

Go Vancouver! Go Nashville! CHOKE FLAMES CHOKE!! I would love for Thursdays game to go to OT or a shootout. There is no better end for this season, than a shootout. Without Garon in net, we can lose and walk away with just the single point making Burke's pick worse maybe?

So, I say keep it. OFF boys, **** the flames!

The Oilers injury report has both Hemsky and Brodziak "out for the season". No reason to play them, of course.

Is Sanderson still injured or is he OK to go now? I thought he still had a strained back or whatever, but maybe they just had him in the PB....I've sort of lost track of all of the injuries
