The last thing on Flames' minds gearing up for the playoffs is not how many cups the Oilers won in the 80's, it's about the Cup we're gunnin' for in 2008.
So, if we're to extend the gun analogy, is that when you take your pump powered pellet gun up against the high-powered rifles of San Jose or Detroit?
Guess I'll check back with you in two weeks to see how that went. I'm sure you'll have plenty of time what with no more Flamers to watch.
Every place has their village idiots. Just because you seen a "row" of fans yelling at people doesnt mean anything. Infact, I highly doubt a half a row would be involved in something like this... and if guys were doing this all game, they wouldnt last the whole game without being escorted out by security. I have to question the validity of your story... It sounds more like an attempt to make Edmonton look bad than anything.
It was a group of about 8 girls all about the age of 20, smashed, yelling it. It ended the third period when an older man (sick of his wife hearing it) went up to security. NO ejections took place.
I don't give a damn if you believe my story or not. It happened. I won't generalize a whole fan base because of it, but it's just another perfect example of how there is no arena that has more class than any other. Same thing could happen in Calgary, Vancouver, or Montreal.

I'm sure this doesn't qualify as a fan in any arena. I am speaking of a whole fan base. And, if you were so upset with it, why didn't you say something in the first place? If you are going to complain about something that can be resolved, fix it, or address the matter. It's just like people who whine about who is in office, but don't vote.
While I admit Calgary doesn't have the best season series against Detoit (1-3), we do have San Jose's number (3-1).
Guess a shotgun works pretty damn well against fish rather than birds. I'm not complaining.
The Flames have not faced the Sharks since mid February, before the trade deadline. The Sharks have been the hottest team in the NHL since the trade deadline, while the Wings have had their slumps. If I were anyone, the last team I would want to play would be San Jose. Best goaltending in the NHL, Strong D, and some deadly forwards up front. Marleau is out of his slump... and the Flames are hit and miss with what night they decide to show up. I would much rather play an aging Detroit team than a San Jose team with many of guys in their prime, that play a big, strong, talented game.
Having lived in Calgary, Edmonton and now attending games at GM Place...there is no difference between the fans.
Some are idiots and most aren't.
I have been in the saddledome before never GM place... I was kind of wondering, how do the other arenas match up to Rexall, not seating wise or anyting, but just the generally appearance and functionality? If you've been enough times you can probably say just as good as anyone.

I've been to about 10 games at the Saddledome and 4 at GM Place.
Both the Saddledome and GM place are more "customer friendly" because they were built later and because Rexall had to be butchered when they installed the luxury boxes.
Of the three, GM Place works best for the average fan because it has easy access, lots of room on the concourses, a brew pub on premises. Both buildings are larger than Rexall so they hold more fans and they also have more legroom between rows. As the population gets taller that's becoming an issue.
You asked about appearance so I'll give my opinion.
I've never warmed up to the Saddledome design..it just looks hick town to me.
GM Place is imposing but not stunning by any means.
Rexall is pretty much an exact copy of Vancouver's old Pacific Coliseum. Okay but far from an architectural landmark.
Let's hope Edmonton's new arena is a more evocative design and I sure hope they avoid the pyramid cliche.
Pyramids have as much to do with Edmonton as the Eiffel Tower has to do with Rimbey.
There will always be idiots... generalizing a whole teams fan base on a select few makes you one of them!!!!!
I am a Flames fan I have been to many BOA games in both arenas and have found most fans to be quite good. There is always a portion of the fans that bring some shame to the team. it is my belief that both the organizations if they had their choice would rather not have the idiots as their fans in the first place.
For example, there was the story that broke after the 2-1 game on saturday that made the flames fans look really dumb with the beating up of an oiler fan. Ken King made the statement that if he knew who it was that did it he would never allow them in the dome again, and even go as far as refunding their jersey money so that they couldn't wear the flaming C.
But the Oil fans don't get off looking that good either. In their cup run there was a Wings fan that got jumped while in the washrooms in Rexall by Oiler fans and then Urinated on. And then there was the whole Whyte Ave fiasco where the fans just started breaking stuff and assaulting cops.
The moral of the story is that before you generalize and paint a whole group of people as idiots or "uneducated" fans sit back and look at your own village idiots first.... maybe the other village idiot will look more appealing than your own!
Oh yeah, I do know who Turek is and am also aware that Fuhr played for the Flames!!!!!!

Just so you know, I am not making this a battle of which fans are better. I simply stated that it was a classy move considered the events that transpired recently. It was nice to see, as an Oiler fan.... Something I would like to see more of. I don't need to know what the "moral of the story is" because you have inserted half the words of your arguement into my mouth for me. I didn't ever say Flames fans are worse than Canucks fans, Oiler fans, any fans. If you want to start the game of what city did what, go for it. I prefer not to compare what stories are worse, unless you like relive the cuts and scrapes from the past. I just talked about how I was proud of how classy the fans looked Tuesday night, and people have to turn it into a "Calgary is better than Edmonton" or vise versa.
As for your comments I don't see them any better than anyone else's who take cheap shots at your team, because you are just fueling the fire. Maybe you should use some of your wisdom and actually read what I wrote before you respond.
