Actually the oilers hold the tiebreakers. If the oilers win their last 2 games that means that the preds would have to go 3-1. ^^

Flames continuing to let us down against Vancouver after failing against the Oilers. And yet, they aren't failing enough to fall back to us. Do they really hate us more than those two teams?

I still think the Preds largely control their own destiny.

If the Preds win out, (getting to 93 points and 42 wins) then:
We eliminate the Oilers
We win out over Vancouver UNLESS the Nucks also win all 3 remaining games (a tie and 2 wins will not do it for the Nucks as we maintain the tie breaker). They play Avs, Oilers and Flames.

I don't think the Nucks will win all 3 but even if they do we aren't done because:

IF Vancouver does win all 3 games, then they have pinned another loss on the Flames. That combined with a loss by the Flames to either the Oilers or Wild would leave us ahead of the Flames (even an OT loss wouldn't help them, although 2 OT losses would).

IF Vancouver does win all 3 games, then they also pin another loss on the Avs. If the Wild can also pin a loss on the Avs, then we finish ahead of the Avs (although 2 OT losses would likely put them ahead of us on the GF/GA tiebreaker).

Even if the Preds only win 2 of 3, they eliminate the Oilers and get in if the Nucks go 1-2 or the Flames melt down completely-- not impossible but certainly a longer shot. There also would be a chance in hell of catching the Avs if our loss was in OT.

I like our chances better than the Canucks right now, but not by much.

Just win our three winable games. I doubt the Canucks will win all three.

Oilers fan here, I hope you guys make the playoffs. I've been rooting against you because I obviously wanted my team to win but the Preds have been a great story. The team was probably the only one who had an offseason more volatile than the Oilers but they've been a great story. Good luck the rest of the way

Appreciate it. I've always liked the Oilers, and while we're by no means in it yet, too bad both our teams couldn't get into the playoffs ths year.

I didn't realise I had put "a great story" twice in my original. It sounds really stupid, sorry I'm not thinking straight tonight

It is too bad both our teams couldn't get in because I truly believe that both of our teams are better than the others trying to qualify. I'm impressed at how your team weathered the exodus of players and also the loss of Sullivan. Hopefully you get in and go far in the playoffs and take out the Ducks, Flames, or Canucks.

Maybe if we all collectively pull for the Oilers Thursday we can knock out the Canucks.

Go Oilers Go!

(Assuming the Preds do their part of course!)

I hate you Detroit.

Can't help but think back to 03-04 when we were cheering for Vancouver to knock off the Oilers, which would put us into the playoffs. Now the situation is reversed...we need the Oilers to knock off Vancouver.

I'm really hoping tomorrow's game in Chicago, where we've struggled, doesn't become a must-win.

Good Luck tonight guys hope to see you in the playoffs.

Hopefully Lady Fortune will smile on you and you won't have to face off with the sharks the first round. It would be great to see ya'll knock out Detroit in the first!

Don't forget that also we needed to beat St. Louis at home on the last home game of the season to get in. We lost, then got Vancouver to eliminate Edmonton.

This year it was opposite, we beat St.Louis and had Edmonton eliminate Vancouver.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Detroit won to clinch first place.
