Congrats to Price on having a very solid month and getting the honour.

As for Price winning the Calder. When it was mentioned over a month ago my answer was that he had no chance in hell this year of winning. But a good month can change a lot of things. I still don't think he will win, but he does now have to be taken seriously.

I think Jonathan Toews would have ran away with this had he not gone down for such a long period of time, its unfortunate.

I'd take Kane over Backstrom, because Backstrom does leech alot of points from Ovechkin. Not that Backstrom isn't an amazing hockey player though.

I'd like to see Price win, but I just don't know if he has the games under his belt.. I think had he played an extra 10-15 games at the pace he is right now, he'd win hands down.

F: Michael Renberg, Philadelphia Flyers
F: Oleg Petrov, Montreal Canadiens
93-94 (Brodeur wins Calder) with:

Renberg 38g - 44a - 82pts (30th place in overall scoring, tied with Steve Yzerman)
Arnott 33g - 35a - 68pts (also 104 PIMs)

07-08 (Why can't Price win?) with:

Kane 19g - 50a - 69pts (37th place in overall scoring)
Backstrom 14g - 53a - 67pts
Toews 23g - 30a - 53pts (62 games)

You can legitimately argue that either of these three deserves the trophy more than Price, but I fail to see how anyone can dismiss that Price deserves consideration. For the poster who argues that teams play one goalie in more games in this "era" might want to note that Arturs Irbe (74 games), Curtis Joseph (71 games), Ed Belfour (70 games), Patrick Roy (69 games), and a number of others with over 60 games as workhorse goalies in 93-94. Only 5 goalies have played in over 70 games this season.

That's bull. Everytime we had a chance to grab first, Huet would choke (Ottawa 6 Montreal - 1?? remember that nonsense?) THAT is why he got traded. THAT game and the Pittsburgh debacle.

Huet had 21 wins for us. And clearly Price wasn't ready to start as #1 this year, the kid was also sent down as well showing how clearly he wasn't ready. Do you think that with Price all season long, we would have a chance to grab first?

Before having a chance to grab first, how about having the chance to get there....

You have a point somewhat but Huet was not the goalie to put us over the top, he was a stop gap until Price was ready. Gainey traded him when you knew Price was ready to take the reigns.

Go figure out... Boston fans think that Price is not a better goaltender than Rask right now.

Go see the Boston's youth vs Montreal's youth pool. This is hilarious.

Nobody can deny they have the best (and most) moral victories.

Price already has won a Calder (cup).

Who needs a trophy when you have a cup?

Rask is a better moral goaltender. Whatever floats their boat.
