the insane part (for those that weren't there), is this is just the tail end of it.. it had gone on just like that already for 3 or 4 minutes before this little clip started.. with the players just sitting on their benchs when the tv timeout started

First, I’d like to congratulate the Oilers fans on a great comeback season. After last season, it had to be bittersweet to go through this season the way it ended, but I am appreciative of the effort that team gave tonight when they could have mailed it in. I’ve always enjoyed watching the Oil, and especially enjoy the way their home arena comes across on tv. Also congrats to Vancouver and Chicago on hard fought seasons.

I’m hard-pressed tonight to think of a better regular season game in the history of the Predators than tonight’s game. I’m also hard-pressed to think of a time where I’ve been prouder of our team and our fanbase. How about Marty freaking Erat laying out to block that shot at the end of the game? They are a frustrating team at times, but they really showed some heart. I think if I were to rate my proudest moments of our fanbase, I’d throw tonight into the mix with the crowd at the airport to greet the team off the plane from Denver in 2004 , the home playoff games against Detroit in 2004, and the 2003 draft.

We’ve been through some bitter moments as a fanbase, not as many, of course, as fans of all of the older franchises, but we’ve seen some tough moments in our brief history. Last summer’s relocation ordeal was the low point, but we’ve rarely won the big, critical game. Even when we did against Chicago in 2003, Legwand broke his collarbone in the game and we went in the tank. After we lost to St. Louis at the end of the 2004 season, we experienced the d-bag convention that was the 300 or so Blues fans that drove out for the game taunting us outside the GEC that Saturday afternoon as we walked out once again losing the big game and once again not knowing if we’d make the playoffs. I have enjoyed every bit of our 20-3-1 record against that franchise ever since that day, culminating in the win tonight, which was the type of atmosphere and night that long time fans of the Predators deserved.

I know we’ll be lucky to take Detroit or San Jose beyond 5 games, and, while I respect the heck out of Barry Trotz for getting to this point under the circumstances he was dealt, I still have a lot of questions about the future of the franchise and how they should approach trying to rebuild and win a first round series. But, tonight is sweet and it’s something to savor. It was great to look around the arena tonight during that TV timeout and just soak in the visuals and the noise. It was great to see how much the players and coaches enjoyed it. As tough as last summer was for us, it was also tough on the players, coaches, and their families.

Someday they’ll win a playoff series and make a run and it’s likely to be a time when we least expect it. It wouldn’t surprise me if Ellis and a line or two get hot and we pull off the seemingly impossible this season. It also won’t surprise me if we get shut out for 4 straight game against Detroit or San Jose. Chelios will whine and expertly deflect pressure from his team and Hasek will knock the net off with his butt on a breakaway and get away with it. Or, Ron Wilson will cry about how he got no calls despite getting 5 on 3 after 5 on 3 and expertly deflect pressure from his team. We know the drill. We’ll worry about that next week. For now, the diehard long-term fans get some well deserved payoff for sticking it out.

I'm a Wings fan, so I really shouldn't be in here, but... congratulations!

The Preds showed tons of determination to get into the playoffs.

Good luck!

Barry Trotz -On having the fans swing their shirts in the air to pump everyone up... "If you’re standing behind the bench it’s pretty impressive to look at this community and the people in the stands and it was pretty loud on the bench because I was trying to call lines and the guys on the bench couldn’t hear me. It was very loud but it’s great because it shows we have a great fan base that has supported us all year and hopes we are able to get things done and get in the playoffs.
Quote:
Dan Ellis -On the crowd tonight… "It was outstanding. That third TV timeout when they were all giving us a standing ovation and waving the towels was huge. It gives the players a lot of energy and we able to feed off that. It allowed us top get that extra push to get us through the final minutes."
Awesome fans we are.

We came out great in the first period. Craptacular second period, until 5 minutes left. Then a good third period.

On the faceoff before Dumont scored in the second, me and my Mom were talking and we said they just have to score before the end of the period here and then a sweet pass from Hlavac to Dumont for the goal!

I still don't understand our second periods.

DeVries!!!

Nice save Fiddler!

That standing ovation was unbelievable. I got chills and even got tear-y. It started as cheers for a great shift and then it just kept getting louder and louder and longer and longer. Then the t-shirst came out. It was awesome, no music, no announcers, just the screaming crowd! I didn't even know that the play was about to start again until I happened to look down and saw the teams line up for the faceoff. If that didn't fire up the team and make them realize how much we are behind them, then nothing will. That was such a great and proud moment and I will never forget it. Screw everyone who has ever and will in the future say we aren't real fans or don't deserve a team.

The club was awesome after the game. So loud. When they finally put the Oiler game on everyone cheered and when the Oilers scored it sounded like we scored.

After the summer and the season we had I'm so happy for the team tonight. This town, team and fans deserve good things.

oh and, WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!

(the replay is on FSN right now if anyone is still awake...i can't sleep!)

God damn, as they say a picture (or in this case video) is worth a thousand words. Friggen awesome. And you know it's gonna be that loud if not louder for our home games in the playoffs.

And another note: How anyone can watch that and say the city of Nashville doesn't deserve hockey can kiss my ass.

Cool video, although I think the video maker is incorrect in how long the ovation was (it was much longer imo), but whatever.

That has to go down as one of the top 5 games I have witnessed. The crowd in the last 5 minutes, and obvious energy it gave the guys was simply amazing. Playoff atmosphere with a team that is really easy to love.

I wonder what was going through Kariya's mind during all of that.?

The Predators posted the in-arena feed of part of the ovation last night:

http://predators.nhl.tv/team/launch....5654&catid=294

It of course does injustice to how loud it was
