Muckler wants woody

I did not see a thread about this anywhere, thought it was worth posting:

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam040507/nhl_ott-sun.html

"Sources say Muckler will request permission to speak with Leafs assistant coach Keith Acton about the job, which came open after Jacques Martin was fired following a first-round loss in the playoffs to Toronto."

If he wants a woody he can buy some Viagra.

I have a feeling Muckler just wants an inside look on how to beat the leafs. After all they failed 4 times in a row.

He's more of a nutrition/specialist from what I understand. Then again, as long as we have Roberts, we probably don't need a coach like that.

Did anyone hear of the Leafs making some hirings to the coaching staff in the off-season? I could have swore i heard they were getting a goaltending coach & maybe another assistant?

The Leafs are discussing some instructional wrinkles for next season. Quinn said he is talking about adding a third assistant to join Keith Acton and Rick Ley after he endorsed both men for next season. The Philadelphia Flyers employ Craig Hartsburg, Terry Murray and Wayne Fleming under Ken Hitchcock. Acton has been mentioned as a replacement for Jacques Martin in Ottawa.

Quinn also is re-opening the idea of a full-time goaltending instructor. It's possible he'll look at Steve McKichan, who is Ed Belfour's personal coach and also worked with Trevor Kidd and Mikael Tellqvist.

Apparently Acton was Muckler's assistant for 2 years when he coached In NYR- so this may be more than a token interview.

Additionally, Robinson appears to be still under contract to the Devils- and will be their coach if Burns does not come back.

I sure would like to bring Mourice as assistant. As good of a job Jersey and Ottawa do defensively- no team has been able to put a squeeze on the Leafs defensively like Mourice's Carolina 2 yrs ago.
