Carolina owns the tie breaker against Washington.. That's why Washington will be fighting Ottawa for the playoff spot and not SE division title. (If Washington, Carolina & Ottawa finish with 94 points.)
If Carolina finishes with 94 points, they win the Southeast - automatically in playoffs. Nothing to do with Senators.)
Tie Breaker only counts with Washington & Ottawa.. Washington has taken the season series.
Boston & Philly would have more points than Ottawa, assuming Boston & Philly win their games.
I have a feeling Carolina might lose tonight against Florida. Carolina has a 5-2 record against them this season, yet, except for the first two games that went 4-2 each way, the rest of the games were decided by one goal. Also, Florida is 2-1 at home this year against Carolina and tonight's game is set in Miami.
What, so Carolina and Washington can both get in? THat only happens if Boston blows their game in regulation tonight and loses to Buffalo. So no. The team that gets in of those two wins the Southeast and therefore gets 3rd. IOW, the chances are <1% so yes scratch Washington off the list.
