I hate Toronto even more.

If they had won last night, you do realize that Ottawa would have been eliminated. Not just eliminated. They'd have finished 10th!!!

Pretty sure we're gonna face Ottawa in the 1st round...

Mtl will win against Toronto...Boston will win against Buffalo...If these two teams win...We play Ottawa...

as for the west, looks like preds will play detroit, that one could be good, i could see the preds taking it, depends on goaltending

I doubt Boston would rather face us than Washington.
Your question was why do people give so much credit to Washington.

If the Caps draw the Senators or Rangers, they'll get absolutely steamrolled. Sens in 6 or less/Rangers in 5 or less.

There, two predictions from me in this thread so far.

This weirdly works no matter where we finish and whether or not Philadelphia wins or loses, save if we lose and Philly and Boston win, then we do play Philly (as another poster corrected).
Pretty accurate observation of the picture.Looks like it though.

I don't think Ottawa would steamroll the Caps by any means.

don't see them winning without alfie, not to mention that their acquisitions might have actually made them slower

the only match-up Washington will win is against Ottawa. Whatever hotness and momemtum they have right now, they'll lose it by the time the playoff starts. Plus, they'll be tired as hell for being in a playoff-mode since the trade deadline. They'll beat Ottawa because this team really sucks without Alfredson

Yeah pretty much. Boston basically control their own destiny vs Carolina/Washington if they get at least one point.

If Boston loses in Reg and Philly loses in Reg or OT, Ottawa gets 6th and will likely meet Washington and we all know how Ottawa got spanked by Washington this season(0-4)....

The Caps are way overrated... they got the best player in the NHL and a solid goalie, but have absolutely no depth...

They are hot right now because they're facing Atl, TB and Florida... THey played a great team like Pitts or NJ like 2 times in the last 20 games or so...

Buffalo had to face us multiple times while Wash had free rides all along with ATL and TB... it sucks for the Sabres and I'm sure any of these 3 teams would like to face them instead of us or the Pens...

I pick San Jose. Komi and Thornton are best buddies.

I agree, sens are not getting enough credit with alfie and fisher out. But theyre still a real good team that can get hot and do damage. If they snap out of this funk theyll be scary with spezza and heatley. Washington is overated and will be out first round unless they play philly

Yeah since Pittsburgh plays Philadelphia, the result directly affect the #1-2 and #7-8 spots.

Only way we wouldn't meet Ottawa in that Scenario(Bos wins), is if Pitts loses in Reg or OT and we lose vs Toronto(we remain 2nd and Ottawa falls to 8th

If we lose and Boston get any points tomorrow we get Ottawa for sure. If we lose and Boston lose we get Boston.

If we win we have to wait for the Pens game.

Washington's going to spank whatever poor squad ends up in the #6 slot, assuming of course they don't blow the chance that's been handed to them to take the SE division and the #3 slot.
