At the moment my team looks like this. Let's see in December how far off I was

Vesalainen - Ikonen - Tolvanen
Kuokkanen - Heponiemi - Turkulainen
Koivula - Räsänen - Kotkaniemi
Jääskä - Koppanen - Tuulola
Ylönen

Juolevi - Välimäki
Heiskanen - Jokiharju
Vaakanainen - Salo
Niemeläinen

Luukkonen
Laakso
Halonen

I think Finland has a serious chance to win. Seems like a weak than normal year for Canada and the US as the best players for either team (Patrick, Keller) won't be there. Here are just some of the players drafted in the first round in the last two drafts that could be on the team:

Henrik Borgstrom - C
Miro Heiskanen - D
Juuso Valimaki - D
Urho Vakanainen - D
Kristian Vesalainen - RW
Henri Jokiharju - D
Eeli Tolvanen - RW

This could be the team to be reckoned with next year.

I'm damm excited for the defense. Borgstom will be too old.

If Juolevi stays in juniors,

Juolevi- Heiskanen
Valimaki- Jokiharju
Vaakanainen- Salo
Niemelainen- Rasanen
and I know I'm forgetting someone.

Post draft prediction:

Kristian Vesalainen - Joni Ikonen - Eeli Tolvanen
Otto Koivula - Aapeli Räsänen(A) - Jerry Turkulainen
Janne Kuokkanen - Aleksi Heponiemi - Jesse Ylönen
Eetu Luostarinen - Joona Koppanen - Eetu Tuulola
Juha Jääskä

Urho Vaakanainen - Miro Heiskanen
Olli Juolevi(C) - Henri Jokiharju
Juuso Välimäki(A) - Markus Niemeläinen
Robin Salo

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
Lassi Lehtinen
Niilo Halonen

Defense, goalies and wingers looks good but centers are bit of a questionmark. Ikonen might be better as winger and Heponiemi has yet to play with the U20's. Luostarinen, Räsänen and Koppanen are more of a two way guys than offensive players.

It's still a long way between here and there, so better options may rear their heads, but if the lineup was to be put together today, I'd say Ikonen and Räsänen are the top-two.

Bottom-two will be less of an issue. Will probably even see competition, as usual.

Any info on which players are invited to the summer tournament? It starts at the end of this month, so its only a couple of weeks away.

As a penguins fan i hope Almari gets an invite. Its a long shot he makes the team. But if nothing else it will be a chance to see him play in the exhibition games even if he doesnt make the final team.

What would be best way to build Finland's team upcoming ( 2018) world juniors?.
Is it 3 goalies 7 defencemans 13 forwards or 3 goalies 8 defencemans 12 forwards.

U18 team went in Slovakia 3 goalies 8 defencemans and 12 forwards model.
It was risk but risks never realized and Finland won U18 silver medal.

Here's potential candidates to world junior per age group.

1998 born
Goalies
Niilo Halonen
Leevi Laakso

Defencemans
Olli Juolevi
Juuso Välimäki
Tarmo Reunanen
Robin Salo
Niclas Almari
Markus Niemeläinen
Kasper Kotkansalo
Oliver Felixson ( only if he's fully recovered of Hodgkin's lymphoma)

Forwards
Janne Kuokkanen
Otto Somppi
Aapeli Räsänen
Anton Stråka
Jerry Turkulainen
Juha Jääskä
Eetu Luostarinen
Otto Koivula
Joona Koppanen
Eetu Tuulola
Otto Mäkinen
Emil Oksanen

1999 born
Goalies
Ukko Pekka Luukkonen
Lassi Lehtinen
Eetu Mäkiniemi

Defencemans
Miro Heiskanen
Urho Vaakanainen
Henri Jokiharju
Eemeli Räsänen
Santeri Latvala
Eero Teräväinen
Bernard Isiguzo

Forwards
Kristian Vesalainen
Eeli Tolvanen
Joni Ikonen
Aleksi Heponiemi
Linus Nyman
Sami Moilanen
Santeri Virtanen
Aarne Talvitie
Jesse Ylönen

2000 born
Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Finland's hockey association isn't updated national team websites so there's not any mention of this years national team events yet.

But Finland's U20 head coach Jussi Ahokas has said Finland will have first U20 national team camp in July.
During U20 national team camp Finland plays two games against Czech Republic in Vierumäki.
And after that Finland's U20 team fly directly to Detroit and plays Plymouth's U20 tournament in early August.

Almari is one candidate to world junior but the competition of roster spots will be hard.
It's likely Finland's world juniors team 2018 is pretty much the same than 2016 U18 gold medal winning team in Grand Forks.
Only difference is that Jesse Puljujärvi will be gone but most 2016 U18 world champions will be in the team.

Who's gonna replace Heiskanen if / when he makes Dallas's NHL team and isn't available to world juniors.

The defence is already head and shoulders above everyone. One Heiskanen is not going to change that.

Yep. Even if Juolevi and Heiskanen both somehow make it to the NHL we still have:

Vaakanainen-Jokiharju
Niemelainen-Valimaki
Salo-Kotkansalo
Almari

Jokerit's season is starting in few weeks, might be that he wanted to focus on making the team.

Jokiharju, Heponiemi and Juolevi are other big names missing.

Looks like there should be a stream for the games vs Czechs today and tomorrow. Game starts at 18:30.

https://livestream.com/leijonat/u20fincze2017

Lineups should be here once the game starts: http://www.tilastopalvelu.fi/ih/game...d=5071&season=
