It sounds like Konar is out long-term now. I don't think this team can compete for a Cup with Jones and Smith starting at linebacker. I still think we should dangle Franklin for a potential long-term solution at linebacker.

Say what you will, but the way our 3 past opponents have looked when they haven't played the Esks says a lot about how well the Esks have played them.

BC is likely the 2nd best team overall team in the league right now, and we basically played them even and outscored their solid offense.

Montreal likely has the 2nd best defense in the league right now along with an explosive offense (as the Stamps found out tonight), and the Esks won a workmanlike effort against them.

Ottawa has had one of the better offenses so far, and we held them to 21 points.

And these wins are coming despite injuries to 2 star playmakers.
Eventually things will even out and the Esks go on a losing streak. They are not as good as the record indicates, but still decent.

I have way more confidence in this team and this coaching staff than I did last year.
a lot of encouraging signs as the team rounds into form.

Ottawa is way better than their record indicates. their secondary played just an excellent game against the esks.

I'm expecting a home playoff game this year.

Injuries have certainly been a problem but I think that the replacements have thus far been at least adequate.

I would take Van over White for a few reasons. Van is the better power runner and that looks good in November. We haven't had a power back since Messam was traded to Montreal. I also think that Van is better at protecting the football.

Jones has been solid at MLB.

Konar>Greenwood and also 9 years younger. Sounds like Konar won't be out for the season. Greenwood, injury prone at age 32 probably won't be back at LB for the EE.

Agreed about Konar. I'd cut Greenwood loose this off season before he hurts another part of his body. That is, if he doesn't retire first. I think Konar has a chance to be a very good linebacker in this league, Canadian or not.

Not sure about Van being a better option than White. I haven't seen enough of Van to make a solid judgement on him, and by the time the Labour Day games are over, should be able to get a better handle on how he fits. But I think White is a premier running back, and we'll miss him.

I think we've dodged the bullet so far with the linebacker injuries, but at some point you have to think it's going to catch up with us. Smith is a 3rd stringer for a reason, but I hope he can improve with enough reps to be a competent filler. Otherwise, Sunderland has some work to do.

Thanks for the info. I can't even find a link. Of course, I'm glad he's not playing for us anymore, but just never heard anything. Obviously went quietly into the night.

With Bowman out our receiver depth will be tested. Hamilton is missing both starting halfbacks, Abdul Kanneh and Emanuel Davis. Brandon Zylsta et al should have good games if Reilly gets good protection.

Excited to finally see Mitchell in action and Williams in a more featured role.

Bowman has been moved to the six-game injured list.

wow, we really haven't caught a SINGLY break with injuries this year have we? pretty crazy to think we're only 3 games into the year and we're down as many bodies as we are .... gonna start catching up with us in the games pretty soon here

We are now down our star running back, our star receiver, our star middle linebacker, and our top two Canadian linebackers. Those are four key positions - at least Bowman and Konar will likely be back later this season.

Of the four spots, the Canadian linebacker spot is the one that worries me the most. We are now down to Blair Smith starting - that isn't good, but it's compounded by the fact that the inexperienced Jones is starting in the middle. I suspect our run defence will get obliterated over the next few games.

I still think we should be looking to trade Franklin to one of the teams looking for a quarterback as we're going to lose him for absolutely nothing next year. I understand the value of having a backup ready to step in, but I'd rather improve our starting lineup (especially given the injuries we've suffered). If we could bring in a legit linebacker (ie. Muamba from Saskatchewan), I think we'd have to look long and hard at doing it.

Hard to feel bad for the Ticats injuries looking at our squad right now.

Weird narrative by TSN tonight.

Hamilton seems desperate to turn the ball over and the Esks seem equally as desperate not to let them.

Ridiculous call. I think the ref thought he went low on the QB.

This has been a stinker of a game, but Lawrence has been a big bright spot.

Shocked the refs missed a clear helmet-to-helmet hit in the middle of the field.
