so if we want to play Boston first round they have to lose their next game, because Ottawa has more win then them.

If Boston wins (96), the Bruins finish sixth in the conference.

If Boston loses (94), the Senators (94) are in sixth (by virtue of Ottawa's wins tiebreaker) and the Bruins are in seventh but this would only be for the time being.

On Sunday, Philly (93), plays Pittsburgh. That game also may help determine whether Montreal is a #1 or #2 seed.

If Philadelphia wins (95), while Boston has lost the previous day, Philadelphia finishes in sixth.

Whoever finishes sixth plays the Southeast division winner (Washington if the Caps get a point or more Saturday; Carolina if Washington loses in regulation).

Ottawa holds the wins tiebreakers against both of Philly and Boston, if teams are locked at 94 points.

Right now, Philly and Boston would be tied for wins (in the event Boston loses Saturday, Philly gets one point against Pittsburgh, and they both have 94 points). In the next tiebreaker, head-to-head, Boston holds the advantage.

Still a bunch of scenarios to determine the sixth, seventh, and eighth place seeding.

A New Jersey - NYR game on Sunday has potential implications for how teams slot into the #4, #5 and #6 positions as well. Very fluid still.

You also forgot: If Boston wins and the Rangers lose on Sunday, Boston FINISHES 5TH to set up the most boring series ever: New Jersey vs Boston.

By the posts on here, I assume that NYR has clinches 6th and if Boston ties them in points and wins they lose on the 2nd tiebraker?

That would be so boring, nobody would even know it existed. It would probably get a brief mention on Sportscentre as they wrap up the show after the Highlight of the Night.

Mise au jeu over/under

Over or under 3 goals?

Over or under 5 000 in attendance?

One possible scenario is...the Habs ditch U2 and bring back L'Oreille

Wow at the number of people predicting the Habs get SWEPT in the first round over at the playoffs board. Not lose the first series, but get SWEPT.

LOL.

Yes, that's pretty surprising.

The habs are one of the only teams how had no real downturns in the season. I think the worst we did was something like 3 loses in a row one or two times, but aside from that we've been surprisingly consistent all year long. I really don't expect us to be swept outright, especially if we face the Bruins or the Flyers.

I might be wrong but I don't think we lost more than 2 games in a row this year

the more I see the word Scenarios the more it loses all meaning.

I keep thinking it sounds like a cereal brand with 3 different shapes, one a Sens logo, the others Boston and Philadelphia.

At the start of the season everyone said we would finish close ot last and now that the playoffs start they all think we will get nailed because we are too young and lack siza.... It's ok, we can prove them wrong yet again. Dunno, 100 year Anniversary next year, 3 awesome comeback games(NJ, NYR, Buffalo), consistency all season long...there's just something about this season....

People who haven't followed the team on a daily basis think we're overachieving. Sure the results of this year ARE surprising, but at some point you have to give credit where its due. It's not like we're running hot for 82 games.

Sens and Bruins fans are going to be all over us from now until Thursday. It's going to be ****-talking galore. A young, heavy European team = automatic playoff fail according to most.

I for one am not going to waste my time reading all the garbage that's going to be posted over the next few days.

If we face Ottawa in the playoffs, it'll be 7 home games... Great!

Record against OTT

3W-5L

Record against PHI

4W-0L

Record against BOS

8W-0L

No doubt that I would be more concerned facing Ottawa but...

The last 2 games against them are really encouraging (2 wins despite injuries) and we are 3W-2L in 2008 against them.

But still I would feel way more at ease facing the two teams we swept and dominated over the regular season.

Looking like Boston based on the scores so far, unless I am mistaken...

SCENARIO #1:

Philadelphia wins in regulation tomorrow. We clinch first, Philly gets 6th, Ottawa 7th and Boston 8th.

SCENARIO #2:

Philadelphia loses in regulation tomorrow. We clinch 2nd, Ottawa gets 6th, Boston gets 7th, Philadelphia gets 8th.

SCENARIO #3:

Philadelphia loses in overtime tomorrow. We clinch 2nd, Ottawa gets 6th, Boston gets 7th and Philadelphia gets 8th.

SCENARIO #4:

Philadelphia wins in overtime tomorrow. We clinch 1st, Philadelphia gets 6th, Ottawa gets 7th and Boston gets 8th.

I don't see any other possible scenario...
