I believe this is the 2nd time in 3 seasons they got the 21st pick. Isn't that when the Rangers grabbed Sanguinetti?

Agreed. Either way, they'll end up with a hell of a prospect though being in the top 5.

Does it really matter with the Islanders?Look at how many high #1's they have had over the years.Where have they gone? They haven't won a playoff round in 15 years.

I'm confident we'll get a good prospect.

It seems someone always drops down. We've also been pretty good at moving up (Staal).

Consider this is a VERY deep draft. And the Rangers recent years of very good picks. I think we will make out well.

History isn't on their side, but I still think it matters. Top 5 picks in this draft are all pretty close.

...and you're rooting for them to stay at #5, so it must somewhat matter to you

They have gone to other teams and have successful careers for the most part.

How about Vyacheslav Voinov?

He handled himself really well in the Super Series. A good hitter and a good puckmover. But I haven't heard much of him lately.

Talk about a baby Meszaros, Ola. He's got the same all-around skillset, and the same lack of hype despite being a great pro prospect.

Needless to say, I like Voinov too.

This is a VERY good draft group.

There are over 30 guys that can be impact NHL players.

That's stretching it. There's always the possibility of that happening, but there are some top guys with some serious flaws..there are guys who can bust hard.

My list of shaky prospects seen projected near 1st round:

Kyle Beach
Tyler Myers
Joe Colborne
Yann Sauve
Greg Nemisz
Colby Robak

Though I would have a hard time passing up on these two, there's something about Doughty, and Bodker that does not feel right. Del Zotto, Stefanovich, Teubert are all guys with obvious problem areas.

And I really like the guys in this draft..

It's a deep draft, but like 2004 it's going to take a few years to see how deep.

You have a better chanee of finding a top line player with a late first round in this draft than in probably any draft since 2004.
