Montreal's Playoff Monster Player and Montreal Out of nowhere "Pisani style" player

So the title is clear enough.

Who will be our monster player, the most regular player, the one that the others will follow, when trailing by 2 goals, he'll put his life on the ice to win. I think it will be Kovalev. This guy was a beast in the season and is just more amazing during the playoffs.

And for our clutch player, our Fernando Pisani player, the one, that will score those tying goals and make you want to sign him for 10 years at 10 million despite his total lack of talent... my vote goes to Higgins, but I can see Lapierre filling this role.

discuss...

"Pisani" style - Mark Streit, because he is the perpetual underdog. Seriously, just to top this year and keep his hold on the Beachamps trophy, I am boldly predicting a Rocket Richard trophy next year He might as well start with a Conn Smyth!

Regular Monster - Screw it, Komisarek. McGuire's already got the plaque made anyway. Who are we to argue. If you give it someone else, he'll blind you with his head.

Higgins doesn't have a total lack of talent.. so that makes no sense.. No offense. He scored 50 PTS his third year into the league (like 99% of his stats were career-highs)..

Anyway.. the guy who will put his heart on the line will be Josh Gorges or Chris Higgins.

The "Pisani" type player will be, mark my words, Bryan Smolinski.

Our playoff leader in points will be Mark Streit with 107 and people will still not want to give him "more than $1.8M"

I think Begin will be huge, maybe not on the score sheet but everywhere else.

Andrei Kostitsyn will be even better in the playoffs than he was in the regular season!

Monster -- Kovalev. He always brings it in the playoffs. HM to Koivu, who does the same.

Pisani-style player -- I can see Smolinski or Higgins, but I'm going to go with Latendresse. He's big and strong, valuable skills in the playoffs, he can score, he's been skating very well lately, and he just seems to have fallen off the map even though he's been good.

I motion we call it the Paul DiPietro award, not the Pisani-type player.

Just saying, in honor of our heritage and all.

The "Fernando Pisani / Paul Dipietro / John Leclair" type player for the Habs will be Guillaume Latendresse. Oh yeah, don't mark my words.

This may sound like a weird choice but Smoke is a possibility. His game has greatly improved down the stretch.

I can see it being Latendresse...and not only because of the "hometown" thing, although that's a big thing to consider.

I'll say Lapierre. He scored some big goals for Hamilton during the Calder Cup.

Monster -- Sergei Kostitsyn. The kid will be a beast and will be flying on the Ice, dominating the game.

Pisani-style player -- Tom Kostopoulos. He might do well

Sergei Kostitsyn might surprise alot of people outside of Montreal now that he has a clean start against everyone else.
