Well, it's a sim, but hey. I like the part where it says we beat the Pens. I hate them. And I'm afraid of them.

If we lost in Game 7 .. I'd probably cry. (I want to write something else, but that's not right to say ).

PS. Who gets home ice-advantage if we play the Sharks? I think they have more PTS.. but we won our conference.. they didn't.

Sharks get home Ice... It goes by points.... Thats strange though cause Caps would get home ice against any non-division winner in the east in the second or third round.

Only teams we would face without Home Ice are Sharks and Wings.

Yeah, that's pretty dumb.

Well in retrospect EA's pre-season simulation (if you want to even call it that) had the Sharks winning it all and the Habs in 12th with 89 points. Hell it had Dallas finishing 14th with 77 points.

He probably got the Conn Smythe just for getting one.

Call him up from Hamilton....

Also you may wanna get the Roster Updates if you can get onto XboxLive or PS3 online..... they change lines, make all the trades, even update the rankings based on who is having a good year and who is having one worse then expected.

I'm sure this sim was done with all the updates.

Its not that surprising that the number 1 team in the East faces the number 2 team in the West, when you take into account that they are running a sim, based on updated player rankings, based on the regular season. These are 2 very good regular season teams.

i've predicted a sharks-habs finals

the nhl conspiracists in me has the sharks winning the cup and habs winning it next year
the regular fan in me hopes for the habs to win it all

but i have a feeling it will be habs-sharks

Funny because TSN has the clips from the EA simulation and Guerin is on SJ.

So, they cheated...

NHL.com has an article and some other place did simulations where they did each matchup 10,000 times and averaged things out. Montreal played in the finals in that one as well but lost to Detroit...

For those that are interested in the official press release concerning the simulation. They even considered injuries and such (Koivu was only back for the 3rd round against Pittsburgh). Kovalev was the highest scorer.

EA Sports NHL Playoff Simulation Predicts Sharks Defeat Canadiens in 2008 Stanley Cup Finals[/B]San Jose overcomes Montreal in a simulated NHL 08 playoff.
April 8, 2008 - EA Sports NHL 08 has predicted that the San Jose Sharks, led by Conn Smythe Trophy Winner Joe Thornton, will come away winners of the 2008 Stanley Cup Final defeating the Montreal Canadiens in seven games. The simulation also offers complete fantasy results for each of the matchups for each playoff round.

Theres the first problem right there.... there is no way this series goes 7 games... and even if it does, there is no way Saku misses a game 7 with this injury.

If we lose in game 7, it will take me a VERY long time to get over it.

I think we will continue to surprise people this playoffs. The Habs have a very good shot at the top prize.
