Nominees for 2018 Hall of Fame class revealed

http://www.profootballhof.com/108-mo...class-of-2018/

Lot of really good names on that list, especially DB's (Atwater, Dawkins, Lynch, Barber, Law)

I really hope Isaac Bruce and/or Torry Holt make it in at some point.

Carl Banks really should be in. One of the key parts to one of the greatest D's and one of the greatest teams (86 Giants) in the history of the sport. Also Steve Tasker as the greatest special teams player ever should get more consideration than he probably will.

Pretty weak new crop of guys. Of the new guys Urlacher is the only one I can see who is deserving.

If Dawkins gets elected, does he get two busts like he used to get two lockers? During the week he was Brian Dawkins but on gameday he was "Weapon X"

Can someone honestly tell me why the likes of Moss or TO are undeserving?

Numbers 2 and 3 in TD catches, TO over 1000 career catches, Moss just under that at 982, both over 15k yards in receiving. I'd say they're both deserving.

Such selfish guys more worried about getting stats then helping a team win.

I think it has a lot to do with their off field reputations and interactions with media in the past. Based on stats only, they are first ballot HOFers IMO.

Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Steve Hutchinson, Ronde Barber and maybe Richard Seymour all deserve to make it.

If you mean as a 1st ballot, then Lewis is going to make it this year over Urlacher, which might bump Urlacher to next year.

Richard Seymour can visit HOF as a paid customer

If Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Jay Hilgenberg are not worthy of HOF then no way in hell should someone like Seymour get in

-3 first-team All-Pro, 2 second-team All-Pro.
-7 Pro Bowl.
-3 Super Bowl.
-Member of the All-2000s first team.
-Other than Ty Law, only guy on these Patriots defense who has a shot at making it.

Like it or not, he has a great chance at getting in. Two Chicago Bears snubs won't change anything.

C Jay Hilgenberg
Started 188 games
7x Pro Bowl
2x 1st team All-Pro
3x 2nd team All-Pro
SB Champ

DT Steve McMichael
95 Sacks (40th in NFL Hitory was ranked in top 15 in NFL history at time of retirment)
838 Tackles
2 INT
2x Pro Bowl
2x 1st team All-Pro
SB Champ

Seymour vs Mongo

Mongo
213 games / 171 Starts
2 INT's
13 FF's
95 Sacks
838 Tackles
3 Safeties (Only 3 players in NFL history have more)

Seymour
164 games / 157 starts
2 INT's
4 FF's
57.5 Sacks
324 Solo tackles / 172 Assisted tackles

If Mongo and Hilgenberg aren't good enough for NFL HOF then there is no way in hell someone like Seymour should be in. your only argument for Seymour seems to be he was a Patriot and that they will be under represented in HOF because outside of Brady there was no truly great player on team

Using tackles, FF and interceptions to compare defensive tackles playing in different teams, systems and eras is in no way appropriate. I would agree that Seymour's lack of sacks will be seen as knock against him since the HOF committee tends to favor sack producing DTs, but I doubt it will stop him from making it. He was a disruptive force, one of the best players in the league during his peak and the anchor of a stacked defense.

Look at Cortez Kennedy. 58 sacks in 167 games - he has basically the same sack rate production as Seymour's. And he's in the Hall of Fame. In fact, he basically has the same resume as Richard Seymour. Only difference is that on one hand Kennedy won a DPOY award wheres Seymour played on a better team in a bigger market. Sure, Cortez Kennedy had to wait half a decade, but I never said that Seymour was going to be a first ballot guy.

Again, two Chicago Bears snubs don't change any of that (especially Hilgenberg, who played a completely different position). Should McMichael have made it ? Sure, but two wrongs don't make a right - we can't keep away great DTs from the HoF because McMichael was snubbed.
