XFD @ Avatar.

I'd see him fit in with our Russian kids. Hopefully he's not too expansive for us.

no. We have cheaper, younger forwards who play a more effective version of his game.

What?!

This reeks of Samsonov!

Afinogenov is definately not the kind of player Montreal needs. We already have our share of fast and smart players. This is a horrible fit.

we already have afinogenov type players, if perezhogin ever comes back he could be our afinogenov, both kostitsyn brothers bring more to the table. I dont disagree but what do we give up? Buffalo will want a top line player in return, whats his contract anyways. What could we give up that would help them and improve us, the answer is nobody.

No way guys. Max is a competitor. I love Max.

The only thing is we do have younger cheaper potentially better players....We will have to pass this time round.

My heart says yes but my mind says no.

i like him but i think that we have already this kind of player with the Habs . I like the impact that bigger players like Stewart and D'Agostini had dduring the last games .

I think he would be nice, but I see him thriving more in a top-six environment, which is ice-time I don't think we can give him, with Higgins, the Kostitsyns, and Kovalev pretty much set and Latendresse vying for a spot, as well.

For sure he ll fit, with the speed he and we have it s a perfect fit.
He has another year on his contract at 3,5M, which would be affordable,
but I wouldnt give much for him...he s been strugglin hard recently, maybe changing of environment and players will boost him again...I mean he scored 10 goals this year...(in 56 gp), 28 points and -16
And we dont particularly need him....

so for cheap yea why not, but otherwise I dont see this happening

Not really. If their going to go for an offensive Free Agent they might as well try to get Hossa, otherwise they should focus on a guy like Ryan Malone.

According to the Buffalo News, the Sabres could trade right wing Maxim Afinogenov this summer.

"It's something we really have to look at with Max," Sabres GM Darcy Regier told reporters. "He's a great guy. I have only good things to say about him, but he may well be one of these players who's ready for a change."

I just don't see him fitting in. What the team needs IMO is a physical winger who shoots first to play with Koivu and Higgins, something Latendresse could be but I llike him with Lapierre and Kost Jr. Ryder was great before but now I could see Malone working or even Vrbata since he's a shooter.

Funny isnt it .

Carolina loves him(Samsonov) .

One thing also MAX is in a contract year so your risk is for 1 year only and most players crank it up in the last year playing for a new contract.

He looks cool skating around but his 10goals in 56games don't impress me. The Sabres needed him this year and he choked.

All i gotta say is forget this year , I BET Afinogenov cranks out numbers close to what he did in his 2 previous seasons .Contract year upcoming id really like to gamble on him .

he is more of a set up guy who skates all around till there is no more real estate.

oh and he is tiny and doesn't hit. no thanks.

we have too many players that are ready for top 6 minutes.

he doesn't fit here with his salary and his inconsistant play and his style of play.
