OK, OK, it's been joked about enough that Chipchura wasn't brought up to Montreal, but he's healthy right now, as he played last night in Hamilton.

So the question can seriously be asked-why isn't he practicing with the Habs? I would have thought they'd want to mold him into a playoff warrior.

Maybe next year but he just isn't that good.

When he was demoted, yes, but around January he was great at both ends of the ice. Actually more so in the offensive zone. Chips can be surprisingly creative.

I expect Chipchura, D'agostini, Valentenko and Danis to be recalled after Sunday...

Because Stewart is still with the big club, Gainey may recalled only one forward!

Maybe Gainey chose to let him play in Hamilton a few games, if only for him to regain game shape.

Our grind line is playing amazing right now, and we have an eager Stewart in the stands, no real need for Chips right now.

He'll be a black ace as soon as the season's over in Hamilton. But I wouldn't expect him to see the lineup barring a rash of injuries.

Next year he will make this team. Chips isn't going to rack up statistics, but I'm convinced he will have a long career in the NHL. Coach's kind of guy.

I think the getting back into gameshape is the most rational explanation, not so much finishing the season with the Dogs.

There is absolutely NO reason Chip should be called up. We're not short in forwards, in fact now we have too much centers. This makes no sense whatsoever at this point in time.

Bob will not recall anybody before the end of the season of the Bulldogs, healty or not. They will recall 3 or 4 players, maybe Chip, D'agostini, Danis and Valentenko. All this guys will probably not play, it's just a matter of experience.

My bad. I was under the impression Hamilton had another week to go because I kept hearing '2 weeks left in the Bulldogs season' about 20 times last week.

No offense to Chips, I think he'll be a great player for the habs in the future, but Stewart was given an opportunity to show what he could do at top level, and did he ever deliver. If a spot ever comes available, it should be his and not Chips. He played better in his debut, and thus far only NHL game than Chips has in all his 36 opportunities.

Well let's not go overboard with the Stewart love. I remember guys like Chris Murray looking real good in their 1st game. He could be a solid 3rd line player but a lot of guys have had deceptive starts to their careers.

How is that going overboard? You perform, you play.

Well 1 game isn't enough of an indication that he won't make rookie mistakes in the playoffs. Chipchura has seen a lot of NHL action, and is a very smart player to begin with. He's also won a couple of championships.
