Its quite apparent that the Hab offence is not what is was during the 82 games.

The powerplay is growing shoddy as well... not nearly as lethal...

When is Captain Koivu going to return with his playmaking skills?

I thought that you could finally see how much he's missed during the first, he would of given them some life for sure.

I have to agree. The PP looks lost right now, and while I don't think you can attribute that all to Koivu's absence, having him back would certainly open up some better puck movement on the 2nd unit.

Our powerplay is not going well, but trust me Koivu's injury isn't the reason why it's hurting and our offence = 7 goals in 2 games

Yeah! The Habs don't need Koivu,he is useless. He can take a full rest in Cuba for all I care.Captain Kovy will lead us to the cupKoivu sucks!

Seriously, people who are underestimating Koivu's impact on the team, especially during the playoffs should get their heads examined.Elevates his level of performance come playoff time, and he's a very valuable piece in the puzzle in our 25th Cup quest. He's the definition of a playoff warrior, folks.

Whoops you're right, I thought he got injured in the last Sabres' game, not the second-to-last.

Anyway, 6-1 without your captain is nothing to scoff at. Remember what happened around this time two years ago when we lost Koivu? Yeah...

He would bring a lot more stability back to this line-up, giving that we've got no one to truly fill in the second-line center role. Higgins is an all right replacement, but he was 0 for 8 in the face-off circle tonight. This team will be a lot better with Koivu back in.

still, taking out 60 points and the best passer on the team is never a good thing. Not to mention the speed he brings.

hopefully Montreal can get by Boston, and quickly without Koivu and give him more time to rest.

Despite being the number one seed, Montreal without Koivu in the playoffs won't go far.

Oh yeah for sure we could use him...I wasn't trying to suggest otherwise.

We need Koivu right now. The strength of our PP this year was its variety, its unpredictability and its consistency. Care to ask ourselves why? Because we have one of the best 1-2 PP units in the league (the best?). If Kovy's unit doesn't work, Koivu's will, or vice-versa.

Think about it, other teams spend tons of time studying our PP via video sessions. Their penalty killers learn the tendencies of our PP, and they try to do something specific to limit our chances (usually Kovy's unit). But the problem for them during the season is that we've got two units that have different tendencies, making the job so much harder for the PKers to adjust in-game.

WE NEED KOIVU I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYSSSSS

The Higgins line were like ghosts, basically. I thought Chris would make things happen more at center without Saku there but I have to say if Saku would have been there he would have created a lot more things than what we saw tonight from the so-called second line.

Brisebois has been great in the playoffs yet people still don't want him in the lineup. Makes sense...

As much as I can't wait till Koivu comes back, you have to stop with these ridiculous posts. The guy never said anything about not needing Koivu, and that Kovy should lead us to the cup.

You have to take a chill pill and stop with the strawman arguments here, the guy merely tried to state a fact. We have been playing fairly well without Koivu, but it's clear that we're a better team when he's in the lineup..

because we need to give playoff experience to our young pups, and, i don't know were you live, but in Canada, playoff match gives more experience than drinking beer in the press box and chatting with saku or habla con Bouillon

we also need a tough D for the first game in Boston

I agree on O'bryne but let Bouillon rest and move Streit up front

No need for him to come back right now. Let him rest and come back for round 2

we have enough "young pups" in the lineup gaining experience right now, we need veterans like brisebois (who has won a cup before and knows what it takes) to help the young guys.

Anyone on this board who thinks we're a better team without Koivu is dumb or is brainwashed by the Montreal french media. We all predicted that Habs would win the serie in 4 or 5 against Boston so why some are suggesting that we win because Koivu is not there? I just took a look on RDS talkbacks and some doesn't want Koivu to comeback and that Kovy must keep the "C". What a bunch of idiots. Imagine if it was Koivu who took that selfish penalty. Anyways, I want Koivu back ASAP but he must be ready to play. Since we're leading 2-0 in this serie, I think he must not be rushed to get back in. One thing that I would not like to happen is that if we lose the first game when Koivu comes back, we'll see something like "Koivu revient, le Canadien perd". I wouldn't be surprised if that happens tho. I remember few years ago, le journal de Montréal had on their front page: "Théodore joue, le Canadien gagne" (I think he was back-up to T-Bo or Hackett at the time).

I'd be shocked if any Habs fan wouldn't think the Canadiens as they are at this moment are not better with Saku in the lineup.

If Mtl can get by Boston and have Koivu come back fresh for the second round they just might beat the Rangers, whom I fully expect them to meet should Philly lose to Washington.
