not to mention ole pisses off every other team and their fans.

I heard it for the first time today and I don't care for it! I find it sounds more like a church tune than mine actually.

True, but it's sorta classless and we're supposed to be a classy town/franchise.

Scoring lots of goals pisses off other teams pretty well too.

I've been reading/hearing a lot of folks complaining about "Olay, Olay". I can't say I'm a huge fan of that chant either. So I wrote/recorded an anthemic, VERY traditional sounding chant for the Bell Centre. It's pretty simple and sounds Montrealish if that makes any sense.

I think it'd sound cool with 21,000+ fans singing it? Words on the screen type of thing? I dunno. Thought i'd share it with my buddies here.

If you'd like to hear it, just click on the link below:

Les Canadiens, Le Tricolore, Nos Glorieux

Have a great weekend and enjoy the game!

Cheers,

d.
Here's my two tips :

(1) you need a better melody
(2) you need better lyrics
(3) you need to pronounce tricolore (trick-oh-l'or), not tricoleure
(4) don't listen to the haters

I don't want to be negative, but to encourage you to come up with something better. There is room for more chants, and practice makes everything better. Gzood luck.

Thx, but it was something whipped up rather quickly, so I didn't spend too much time on it. I don't think I'll be spending more time on it either. My pronounciations definitely needs work! One thing to speak French, another thing to sing it!

Haters? I haven't encountered any here.

But to be fair, Ole, Ole, Ole are not exactly the best lyrics of all time! lol!

Go Habs.

Please don't start this debate again mate.

On a side note, I like the concept, but like a few people mentioned earlier, to write a song simple enough, and good enough, so that every fans (french or anglo) will be willing to sing is one hell of a mission.

Keep the good work though.

Brainstroming ideas:
-Could involve hands clapping (More entertaining, more noisy, easier rhythm to follow)
-References to the history of the franchise is good, but let's face it, this is a totally new league, and a totally new team. Most people don't even know who Newsy Lalonde or McNamara is.
-Moderately fast rhythm song. (e.g. Ole Ole's speed)

Good luck!

Liverpool FC fans chanting:
"FFFuuucckk off,
Chelsea FC,
You ain't got no history,
5 European Cups,
18 Leagues,
That's what we call history"

changed up for Habs:
"FFFuuuccckk off,
Boston B's,
You ain't got no history,
24 Stanley Cups,
Now you see,
That's what we call history"

LOL

Thx everyone for the input. I'm glad I flew it by you guys. Great feedback. I'll probably re-record it with the proper pronounciation of COLORE. I've been working on that word for two days. lol! C-O-L-O-RE

I came up with one last night actually-I recorded it at 2am and sent it out to a few radio stations. Short and sweet. I did it to the Beatles tune "Carry that Weight" from Abbey Road.

"BOYS, YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT CUP, CARRY THAT CUP IN NO TIME...."

Not intended for the Bell Centre, just for radio stations to pump up the city. Maybe I'll stay away from the chant-creating biz.

Take care...thx again...enjoy the game!

GO HABS

d.
