I don't think a player who's value is under 0 would have got the big player he got this season.

Heh. We finish in first place in our conference, currently lead our series 2-0...

And here come that thread saying we made a mistake by trading Ribeiro and how we'll rock so much with him in the lineup.

Read the OP before vast generalizing, he said he was happy to see a former Hab doing well and good on him.

He wasn't crying and saying we'd be hoisting the Cup had we not made the move.

Admiring the play of a former fan favorite (people do remember those days, right?) is not somehow demeaning the team we have.

Quite frankly, and to be blunt, i dont really care about an ex-Habs performance anywhere they may be.

whats with this obsession with ribeiro? he's gone and we're a better team without that dressing room cancer. good luck to him in dallas, happy he's no longer wearing the CH.

Bingo. The Habs have been associated with words like soft-weak-wuss-cowards-divers-etc ever since

I hate Ribs, because I hate explaining to other people that our team is not made up of ****** p*ssies.

Awesome performance by Mike Ribeiro so far in the series... Hope he continues his strong play to help the Dallas Stars eliminate the Anaheim Ducks...

Gainey said it himself he made a mistake, hopefully people on Habs board do the same once and for all.
Why is this relevant again?? He was traded for the betterment of the team. The return may have been suspect but the trade was a necessity

To steal a line from Bobby Mac, Ribeiro is an assclown.

However, in the grand scheme of things, his trade allowed Plekanec to emerge and thus I am at peace with the move. I think if we'd held onto him a bit, we might have gotten more, but Ribeiro seems to be the type who needed to be away from his home town and the pressure to really excel.

Good on him and good on us.
We basically traded Ribeiro for the emergence of Plekanec just like we traded Huet to make room for Price. In both cases it was an upgrade in that we bumped the level of championship mentally on the club.

The Habs had a sub-par performance last night.

Gee, what a coincidence.

I don't care if I get flack for it, this thread wouldn't have happened if Montreal smoked the B's again.

You know the Habs aren't playing well when...

Ribeiro is a very talented player, but i'd rather have a 1-2 punch of Plekanec-Koivu then Ribeiro-Koivu. I really like what Pleks brings to this team.

Good for him...

Now let's move on once & for all. For the next Ribeiro thread, I'd love to see a big OT in the subject line.

yeah, anyway people don't like him at that's the end of it. Gainey said he made a mistake and I don't know many teams that wouldn't be better with an extra 82 point guy. Sorry for one too many thread on Ribeiro, apparently people can't recognise that he's grown a lot and that he's now one of the premier player in the NHL. We're still stuck at one incident where he was lying on the ice as if it made his whole career. Btw, Kovalev layed on the ice against the Nordiques and I don't see anyone bringing this back now that he's a good player for the Canadiens.

I'm happy for Ribeiro, he's a good hockey player but we weren't going to win with him. Look where we are now.

But 5 points in 2 games is very good to date.
