Yeah, I'll sticky it. We had the prospects thread stickied during the season that is why we didn't do this topic, too.

Odd playoff format the AHL has. Toronto and San Antonio meet in the North Division PO bracket even though San Antonio is not in the North Division. They had more points than the fourth place team in the North, so San Antonio advances. The North Division Playoffs champs could be a West Division team.

That was done because the West Division has more teams than the North Division. IMO that could be eliminated with a conference playoff format, but the AHL won't do that b/c the travel costs would be too high.

I wouldn't worry about San Antonio winning the division though, Toronto is very good and should win that series relatively easily (5 or less).

That was awesome thanx for posting. I just added that to my list of Fav's on YouTube. It looks like me and Rogers Pancreas might have to break down and start paying $6 bucks a game is thats whats in store for us. Man that was sweet! Giroux will be over sooner or later. Nodl had his first goal 2 games ago. I love the job the scouts are doing.

That would be great. Parent's got the wheels and can cover for Ratchuk when he rushes the puck.

this format is similar to the Canadian Football League. There are only two divisions and if the 4th place team in the East finishes with more points than the 3rd place team in the West, the Eastern team becomes the 3rd seed in the West (only six teams make the playoffs) and vice versa.

It hasn't happened yet, but it'll be an interesting Grey Cup if two teams from the same division play in the Final.... especially if it's Edmonton vs Calgary.

huge disappointment, hopefully they can pull it together and start scoring some goals (they did have 39 shots). It's amazing how much this team scored in the first half of the season and how much they've droped off since then.

There was a brawl at the end of yesterdays game. Albany had six man on the ice and two of them (Angelidis and Conboy) double-team Cabana in the middle of the clip.

Is that automatic suspension territory?

If you read the hurricanes prospect thread their mod thinks it is an automatic suspension for Conboy for leaving the bench.

Losing Conboy should be a boost for the Phantoms

I am a bit biased as a Rats fan, but Conboy was on the ice as part of a line change. The AHL VP was at the game last night. I would say that a suspension for Conboy is 50/50. I think it's more likely that Gillies will get the suspension for the 3rd man in call. I doubt it will be more than 1-2 games.

The return games in Philly should be interesting.

Good luck guys.

The American Hockey League today announced that Albany River Rats defenseman Tim Conboy has been suspended for eight (8) games as a result of his actions during an AHL playoff game vs. Philadelphia on Apr. 16. Conboy was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 70.6 (leaving the players’ bench during an altercation) and AHL Rule 29.1 (supplementary discipline).

I guess the league did the right thing. I don't know much about this guy, but that was ridiculous. You just don't start pounding on a defenseless player like that.

He deserved it. What an idiot.

Phantoms are going to need Munroe to be better. 4 on 25 is unacceptable. And 0 on 39 is aswell. Score some goals!

Potulny had 7 shots!
