He's about 175-176 cm, if the stats don't lie.

5'8ish... unless he grows another 2 inches I wouldn't touch him in the top 10. Sorry but size does matter to a certain degree

That's actually 5'9. Which is one inch shorter than Saku Koivu for example. The problem at this moment is mostly his thinnes. He doesn't have much of muscles, etc. Attitude and height is enough to play in NHL. Should grow of course, but don't see height being stopping it.

That's awesome stuff... here's to hoping he has a prominent role and isn't just a 13th forward. What tourney is this for?

Rajala is among the players that were chosen to U20 camp, so he must still prove himself to coach Rautakorpi before he makes his debut in a real game. Rautakorpi often prefers physically strong players, so Rajala might have a huge mountain to climb before getting into Rautakorpi's favour.

Ahh, thank you thank you. It's a different story that he's made the camp. I'd agree that with how little he is and the information you describe concerning the way the team is picked, Rajala may have a hard time making the team, being how little he is.

Considering the lack of offesive talent in this age group, Rautakorpi would be foolish not give Rajala a good hard look.

Shouldn't this just be par for the course, given his hype for the '09 Draft?

The hype appears to only be around here, where hype is what drives this place. Rajala has only been (questionably?) falling in the eyes of the "pro" agencies.

He's done nothing to merit "falling" at all.

He hasn't slowed down or anything. I don't get where people are making him less of a player than he is.

The real issue is you making him more of a player than he is.

That's true, but I guess that Rajala will have to earn a spot in 1st or at least 2nd PP-unit if he wants to stay with the team. Looking back at last season's U20WJC team that was picked by Rautakorpi you can see that there was only one smallish forward - Sakari Salminen (~5'10'' 155lbs).

Yep, but Finnerican wants to keep us all updated on Rajala's progress, so that shouldn't be anything new?

Rajala's skill and skating ability combined are something that you rarely see in Finland, so hype is not unjustified. On the other hand his size has been clearly the biggest question mark for the whole time that his name has been in public knowledge, so it's understandable that his ranking and position in 2009 draft will be falling as the draft comes closer and closer (if he doesn't grow height), and more less known players surface to the open.

Be that as it may, that combination is not nearly as rare in the rest of the world. Somebody like Zach Boychuk has a ton of skill and skating ability yet he's constantly knocked for his size. The problem is, he's built like a brick ****house whereas Rajala is built like a 12 year old girl. If size is an issue for the former, what does that say for the latter?
