However he plays, it's clear that he's hugely important to the Rangers. The Star-Ledger noted on Monday that since acquiring him last season in a trade with the Kings, the Rangers are 50-20-16 with Avery in the lineup and 9-13-3 in the 25 games he's missed.

Maybe Sather would like to take a peak at his disappearing act down the stretch. Wasn't it something like 1 pt in the last 9 games? Arguably the most important part of the season he and he disappeared. Let's hope that keeps the price tag down, because I want him on this team next year.

Actually, he does. Back when the story broke about him cutting off talks, both he & Slats mentioned his agent.

From The Daily News:

Quote:
"Sean is an important part of our team," Rangers GM Glen Sather said in a statement. "His focus and ours right now is finishing as high as we can in the standings and then going as far as we can in the playoffs. We value his contribution and at the appropriate time we'll continue discussions with his agent."

A healthy Avery and a performing Lundqvist will take you a long ways. 50-20-16 is ridiculous.

Its like the difference between 100 point pace and 65-70 point pace without him.
