Antropov's knees are no longer much of a concern. Not like they were a couple years ago.
Not as much of a concern, I agree. He's still a pretty fragile player though, over the last 2 years he's averaged 67Gms played, and there's no telling if it will get worse/better.
I'm really big on Huselius so I'd turn it down without question from Florida's POV.
As a Leaf fan I'd do it, but alas I don't feel it's a fair offer.
Antropov's value isn't terribly high right now after coming off a relatively poor season. His size, age, and poptential give him some value but I think the Leafs are better off waiting to deal him assuming their planning to.
His value isn't likely to drop much in the short term, but it definitely has the potential to go up quite a bit.
Welcome to Leafs Nation, leave your common sense at the door.
Id keep Antropov, no sense trading a guy when his value is so low. Not that impressed with Huselius either. Everyone is talking about how bad a year Antropov had but he still scored more goals than Huselius even though Kristian gets more ice-time at even strength and on the PP.
This is one time where the old cliche about fans from both sides not liking a deal holds true.
This is a fair trade that is not outside the realm of reality. Both teams give up enigmatic young players. Both players have the potential to be impact NHL'ers, both have a slew of question marks regarding their development.
Just forget Horton...it would be like Boston trading Thornton after his first yr. No matter what Toronto could offer, it wouldn't be enough to get Horton out of FL. I won't even comment on what you're even offering its that bad.
I'd have no interest whatsoever in Antropov at this point unless it was a deal involving a pick or a player not expected to be re-signed (Matt Cullen?). Huselius, while on a down yr, still should have more value than Antropov since he's a proven multi-time 20 goal scorer and has improved his defense quite a bit this past season (as a result of his offensive struggles, he's not the super floater he used to be). Add to it that Huselius is worth more to the Panthers than on the market still at this point (though that could change next yr). Talk to us in about a yr and maybe that deal might happen but not right now.
